BLOOMINGTON, Minn. – The National Association of Basketball Coaches (NABC) recognized six men's basketball programs from the Minnesota Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (MIAC) in the organization's annual Team Academic Excellence Awards.

The Team Academic Excellence Awards honor outstanding academic achievement by a team with a cumulative grade point average (GPA) of 3.0 or better during the 2016-17 season. Among the institutions honored were Carleton College, Hamline University, Macalester College, Saint John's University, Saint Mary's University and the University of St. Thomas.

In order to earn the NABC Team Academic Excellence Award, institutions in the NCAA, NAIA and NJCAA must count the GPA of all men's student-athletes who competed during the 2016-17 season. The NABC (@NABC1927) invites social media users to share and celebrate the success of these student-athletes using the hashtags #NABC and #TeamExcellence.
