The Saint Benedict women's golf team enjoyed its home-course advantage over the weekend, as the Blazers captured the tournament title at the Blazer Invite, held at Blackberry Ridge G.C. in Sartell, Minn. Junior star Grace Todora (Woodbury, Minn./Cretin-Derham Hall) was a catalyst in the win, finishing second in the 49-player field and finishing below 80 in each of her two rounds. For her performance, Todora was named the MIAC Women's Golf Athlete-of-the-Week.
Todora carded a 5-over-par 77 over her first 18 holes and a 7-over-par 79 in the final round to finish with an even 150 over 36 holes (12-over-par). Her 77 was the third best round of the entire tournament, and her day-two 79 was the second-best round of the day. This marked her second-straight top-five finish, and fourth consecutive top-10 appearance. Todora's scored helped CSB shoot 320 on day one, and 328 on day two for a 36-hole total of 648, which was good for first place in the six-team field. Todora's 18-hole average of 80.3 is the fifth-best in the MIAC this season.
The Blazers have just one event left on their schedule to prepare for the 2013 MIAC Golf Championships, which will be held Oct. 5-7. Todora and her teammates will compete against Division II St. Cloud State in a dual meet Friday. The dual tees off at 1:45 p.m. at St. Cloud Country Club in St. Cloud, Minn.
