BLOOMINGTON, Minn. -- Minnesota Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (MIAC) Coordinator of Tennis Officials, Lisa Mushett, was recognized as the 2019 recipient of the United States Tennis Association (USTA) Northern Rocky Rockwell Grassroots Official Award, the organization has announced.
Each year, USTA Northern honors individuals and organizations that have demonstrated outstanding commitment to the growth and development of tennis with various sectional awards. The Rocky Rockwell Grassroots Official Award was established in 2009 to honor an official who has done outstanding work as an official at the grassroots level.
Mushett travels across and beyond the Northern section borders to lend her services as a tennis official. She also serves as a mentor to many new officials, helping to raise the quality and experience of the officials in the region. She is the first Minnesota Intercollegiate Athletic Conference Coordinator of Tennis Officials and serves as a USTA National Trainer conducting officiating clinics for both new and veteran officials across the United States. Mushett is considered an asset to the officiating and broader tennis landscape.
