MIAC announces 2022 Soccer, Volleyball All-Playoff Teams

BLOOMINGTON, Minn. – The 2022 Minnesota Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (MIAC) Soccer and Volleyball Playoffs wrapped up on Saturday, and on Tuesday, the top players from a tremendous weekend of competition were recognized with the announcement of the MIAC All-Playoff Teams.

All MIAC sports with conference playoff tournaments (soccer, volleyball, basketball, hockey, tennis, baseball, and softball) will feature All-Playoff Teams in 2022-23, with the awards being voted on by the head coaches of the qualifying teams. The top vote-getter from each sport will be named the Playoff’s Most Valuable Player.

Eleven players were selected to the MIAC Men’s Soccer All-Playoff Team, led by Playoff MVP Robi Buzakovic (Fy. | Fargo, N.D. | Shattuck-St. Mary’s). Three days after tallying a goal and an assist in a semifinal victory, St. Olaf’s first-year midfielder scored the third of his three playoff goals with just over a minute remaining in regulation of the MIAC Playoff Championship game to secure the postseason title for the Oles.

Eleven players were also named to the MIAC Women’s Soccer All-Playoff Team. St. Catherine goalkeeper Kate Praetz (Jr. | Bolingbrook, Ill.) earned Playoff MVP honors after recording 22 saves with two goals allowed in three tournament games that included two overtime contests and one shutout en route to a second-straight playoff title for the Wildcats.

Seven players received MIAC Volleyball All-Playoff Team honors. Playoff MVP Marlee Turn (Jr. | Kennedy, Minn. | Kittson Central) logged 27 kills, 37 digs, and four service aces across the semifinal and championship matches to help lead Gustavus to its fifth MIAC Playoff title.
