MIAC Athletes of the Week - September 12, 2022

BLOOMINGTON, Minn. -- The Minnesota Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (MIAC) announced its Athlete of the Week award winners for football, volleyball, and soccer on Monday. Student-athletes from Augsburg, Gustavus, Hamline, Macalester, Saint Benedict, Saint John's, and St. Scholastica claimed the Conference's weekly honors for September 6-11, 2022.

The MIAC Athlete of the Week awards are nominated by the Conference's sports information directors and selected by MIAC staff. Throughout the fall season, team sports (football, soccer and volleyball) Athletes of the Week will be recognized on Monday afternoons, with individual sports (cross country and golf) announced on Tuesday afternoons. The winners of the latest Athlete of the Week awards are listed below, along with details on their outstanding performances.

MIAC Football Offensive Player of the Week
Michael Nadeau
Macalester College

Garden Grove, Calif. | La Quinta

Michael Nadeau completed 24-of-39 passes for 442 yards and five touchdowns without an interception in the Scots' 43-7 victory over Martin Luther on Saturday. Nadeau is one of 11 quarterbacks in all of NCAA Division III to surpass the 400-yard mark in a single game this season, with his mark of 442 ranking eighth in the country.

MIAC Football Defensive Player of the Week

Wildomar, Calif. | Vista Murrieta

Metoriah Faoliu totaled 11 tackles - including eight unassisted and 3.5 for a loss - to go along with 1.5 sacks and a quarterback hurry in the Johnnies' 37-34 win over nationally-ranked UW-River Falls on Saturday. Faoliu also assisted on three tackles and finished the game with 11 yards for loss on his 3.5 takedowns behind the line of scrimmage.

Conor Murphy went 4-for-4 on his PAT tries and connected on a 39-yard field goal in the Johnnies' 37-34 win over nationally-ranked UW-River Falls on Saturday. Murphy's third-quarter field goal - the longest by a Saint John's kicker since 2017 - proved critical in a three-point win for SJU.


MIAC Volleyball Offensive Player of the Week
Kevin Boysen
Augsburg University

Kevin Boysen led the Auggies with 59 kills (4.21 per-set) on a .350 attacking pace, to go along with six blocks (one solo) and 34 digs (2.43 per-set) to help Augsburg to a 4-0 sweep at its home invitational over the weekend. Boysen had a double-double with 19 kills (.385) and 13 digs in a win over UM-Morris on 9/9, then followed up with a 17-kill (.292), eight-dig effort in Augsburg's four-set win over defending national champion and No. 5-ranked UW-Eau Claire. On 9/10, she had 12 kills (.312), five digs, and three blocks in a sweep of UW-La Crosse, then had 11 kills (.500) and eight digs in a sweep of Pacific Lutheran.

MIAC Volleyball Defensive Player of the Week
Maren Sundberg
Gustavus Adolphus College

Maren Sundberg posted 71 digs across 13 sets as the Gusties rolled to a 4-0 weekend at the Augsburg Invitational. Sundberg's best showing came against the defending national champions with a career-high 33 digs against UW-Eau Claire on 9/10. Sundberg also chipped in three aces over the weekend and scored a 2.42 on her serve-receive in the four matches.


MIAC Men's Soccer Offensive Player of the Week
Logan Weller

Logan Weller tallied three goals on 13 shots for the Pipers in a week that included a 2-0 victory over Crown on 9/6 and another 2-0 win over UM-Morris on 9/10. Weller scored the first goal of the game against Crown and registered both goals against Morris. He peppered the Cougars with 10 shots along the way, one shy of the single-game program record.

MIAC Men's Soccer Defensive Player of the Week
Evan Siefken

Evan Siefken went 1-0-1 with 14 saves in-net for the Johnnies over the weekend. Siefken tied a career high with 10 saves, including a stop on a penalty kick 9:50 into the game, in Saturday night’s 1-1 tie at UW-Platteville. Siefken then made four saves to record his second shutout of the season and fifth of his SJU career in Sunday’s 3-0 win at UW-Whitewater.


MIAC Women's Soccer Offensive Player of the Week
Kaitlyn Sautter
The College of St. Scholastica

Kaitlyn Sautter earned a hat trick in just her fourth collegiate game, scoring three of the Saints' four goals in a shutout victory over Finlandia on Sunday. Sautter scored twice in the first half and tallied the first goal of the second half to lead St. Scholastica to victory. She has scored four of the team's six goals this season.

Paige Kahlmeyer
College of Saint Benedict

Paige Kahlmeyer played one half in both home games against UW-Eau Claire and Luther over the weekend, stopping all eight shots she faced without allowing a goal to preserve a pair of Bennie victories. Kahlmeyer made five saves against the Blugolds on 9/10 and added three more against the Norse on 9/11.
