ARDEN HILLS, Minn. – For the second year in a row, Gustavus Adolphus College has claimed the Minnesota Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (MIAC) championship in women's outdoor track & field. The Gusties climbed up from third-place at the end of Friday to win the title with 154.5 points.
St. Olaf placed second as a team with 143 points, followed by Saint Benedict in third with 127.5 points, and Bethel in fourth with 118 points, and Carleton in fifth with 91 points. Three points separated Hamline (58) and Concordia (55), while Macalester (33), St. Catherine (27), and St. Scholastica (27) were all within six points of each other. One point separated Augsburg (14) and Saint Mary's (13).

Gustavus senior Birgen Nelson set MIAC meet records in all three of her championship wins on Saturday, winning the 100-meter hurdles in 13.37, 100-meter dash in 11.71, and 400-meter hurdles in 59.87. St. Scholastica junior Lily Beneke set a new MIAC record in the hammer throw with her distance of 55.16 meters (180' 11"). St. Olaf junior Christine Albrecht was also a record breaker with a time of 10:37.35 in the 3000-meter steeplechase. Saint Benedict junior Fiona Smith continued her dominance in the distance races, shattering the MIAC record in the 5K with a winning time of 16:19.98.
