BLOOMINGTON, Minn. -- The Minnesota Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (MIAC) announced its Athlete of the Week award winners for football, volleyball, and soccer on Monday. Student-athletes from Augsburg, Bethel, Carleton, Gustavus, Macalester, Saint Benedict, and St. Scholastica claimed the Conference's weekly honors.
The MIAC Athlete of the Week awards are nominated by the Conference's sports information directors and selected by MIAC staff. Throughout the fall season, team sports (football, soccer and volleyball) Athletes of the Week will be recognized on Monday afternoons, with individual sports (cross country and golf) announced on Tuesday afternoons. The winners of the latest Athlete of the Week awards are listed below, along with details on their outstanding performances.

MIAC Football Offensive Player of the Week

Jack Curtis led the Knights to a 38-12 non-conference road victory over UM-Morris on 9/16. In only his third career start, Curtis threw for 362 yards and five touchdowns, completing 30-of-38 passes on the day. The Knights scored on three consecutive drives in the first half culminating with touchdown passes from Curtis, finding his receivers for scores of 41, 9 and 31 yards, respectively. Curtis spread the ball around, with three different Carleton receivers surpassing 100 receiving yards in the game.

Anthony Vo led the Saints with nine total tackles, four of which were solo stops, and recorded one sack for a loss of six yards in a 38-18 win against Crown on 9/16. Vo’s first collegiate rush attempt also went for a two-yard touchdown, as Vo received a handoff out of the Saints' jumbo package at the goal line and barged through the middle for a second-quarter score.
MIAC Football Special Teams Player of the Week

Nathan Wangensteen went 8-for-8 on extra points and averaged 59.6 yards on 10 kickoffs, with four touchbacks, in the Auggies' 62-0 victory over Martin Luther on 9/16. Through two victories, Wangensteen is perfect in kicking duties, going 1-for-1 on field goals and 15-for-15 on extra points, and is averaging 55.4 yards per kickoff on 19 kickoffs, with five touchbacks.
MIAC Volleyball Offensive Player of the Week

Rockford, Minn.
Lauren Klaith put up 48 kills in the Gusties' four matches last week, leading the team to a 3-1 record. Klaith recorded a season-high .400 hitting efficiency against Coe on 9/16, while her 26 kills between the team's two matches at the Loras Invite earned her All-Tournament honors.

Audrey Spolidoro helped the Bennies to an upset victory over No. 7 Washington U, as CSB faced off with three nationally ranked teams at the UW-Whitewater Tournament on 9/15-16. Spolidoro averaged 9.75 assists per set with 117 in total to close in on 2,000 for her Bennie career. She also had 36 digs, six blocks, four kills, and two service aces with a pair of double-doubles on the weekend.
MIAC Men's Soccer Offensive Player of the Week

Kebba Janneh scored three goals in a pair of MIAC victories for the Auggies last week. Janneh scored in the 19th minute in a 5-1 victory at Hamline to open conference play on 9/13 before claiming his third multi-goal game of the season with a pair of scores in a 3-1 home win over Saint Mary's on 9/16. He scored on a rebound off his own point-blank shot in the 12th minute against the Cardinals, and added a goal on a penalty kick 15 seconds into the second half.

Daniel Linder was pivotal to the Knights' 3-0 week, keeping clean sheets in all three games, including 1-0 victories over No. 10 Gustavus and No. 20 North Central (Ill.). Against a Gustavus offense that had yet to be shut out this season, Linder stopped all three shots on target that he faced on 9/13. He saved a penalty kick against Concordia on 9/16 and versus a North Central offense that was averaging 3.67 goals per game and had not been shutout in its last 39 matches, Linder again stood firm and saved all four shots on goal on 9/17.
MIAC Women's Soccer Offensive Player of the Week

Hannah Kvant scored three goals and added two assists to help the Royals to a 1-1 record to begin conference play. Kvant tallied the Royals' lone goal against St. Olaf on 9/12, scoring from just inside the box. In a 5-1 win over St. Scholastica on 9/16, Kvant posted Bethel's first two goals in the 19th and 22nd minutes before assisting on the team's next two scores.

Abigail Heuga played all 180 minutes in-goal for the Scots in conference victories over Saint Benedict and Gustavus last week. Heuga had six saves in a 2-1 win over Saint Benedict on 9/12 - the Scots first win over the Bennies since 2015 - and collected 12 saves in a 1-0 win over regionally-ranked Gustavus on 9/16.
