MIAC Athletes of the Week - January 15, 2024

BLOOMINGTON, Minn. -- The Minnesota Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (MIAC) announced its Athlete of the Week award winners for basketball and hockey on Monday. Student-athletes from Carleton, Gustavus, Hamline, St. Catherine, Saint Mary's, and St. Scholastica claimed the Conference's weekly honors.

The MIAC Athlete of the Week awards are nominated by the Conference's sports information directors and selected by MIAC staff. Throughout the winter season, team sports (basketball and hockey) Athletes of the Week will be recognized on Monday afternoons, with individual sports (swimming & diving and indoor track & field) announced on Tuesday afternoons. The winners of the latest Athlete of the Week awards are listed below, along with details on their outstanding performances.

MIAC Men's Basketball Offensive Player of the Week
Luke Harris
Carleton College

Piedmont, Calif.

Luke Harris averaged 25.0 points, 7.0 rebounds, 4.0 assists, and 2.0 steals in a 1-1 week for the Knights. Harris joined the 1,000-point club with his 23-point performance at Macalester on 1/10, adding seven rebounds, five assists, and two steals to his stat line. Harris followed that up with a game-high 27 points, including 22 after intermission as the Knights erased a double-digit halftime deficit at Saint Mary's on 1/13. He finished that contest with seven rebounds, three assists, and two steals. Harris now has 10 games of 20-plus points this season.

Austin Holt
Hamline University

Highlands Ranch, Colo. | Thunder Ridge

Austin Holt averaged 10.0 rebounds and 2.5 steals per game to help the Pipers to a 2-0 week in conference play. He posted eight boards to go along with eight assists and three steals in an 84-77 win over Gustavus on 1/13 after turning in a 14-point, 12-rebound double-double along with three assists and a pair of steals in a 77-68 win over St. Scholastica on 1/10.


MIAC Women's Basketball Offensive Player of the Week
Hattie Fox
St. Catherine University

Hattie Fox averaged 18.0 points per game in a 2-0 week for the Wildcats. Fox registered her 11th double-digit performance on 1/13 against the Bennies, forcing overtime with a half-court buzzer-beater and leading St. Kate's with 21 points in the win. Fox also tallied 15 points in a 68-56 win over Augsburg three days prior. She was 11-for-12 from the free throw line for the week and added 21 rebounds and five steals to her stat line.

Kloey Lind
The College of St. Scholastica

Kloey Lind had back-to-back double-double performances in the Saints' 1-1 week, averaging 13.5 rebounds, 14.5 points, and 2.0 blocks per game. Lind had 14 rebounds, 16 points, and one block in St. Scholastica's 58-55 win over Hamline on 1/10. She then grabbed 13 rebounds along with 13 points, two steals, and three blocks in a loss to Concordia on 1/13.


MIAC Men's Hockey Offensive Player of the Week
Colin Tushie
Saint Mary's University

Colin Tushie recorded his first collegiate hat trick - including the game's final two goals - and added an assist to lift the Cardinals to a 5-3 win over St. Olaf on 1/12. Tushie then added his second assist of the weekend in the Saint Mary's sweep-clinching 3-2 win the following evening.

Maximillian Haselbacher
Hamline University

Maximillian Haselbacher matched his career-high with 40 saves in a 5-0 shutout victory over UW-Superior on 1/13. Eighteen of his 40 saves came in the third period. He has tallied 40 saves twice this season and come away with wins in both contests.


MIAC Women's Hockey Offensive Player of the Week
Abby Pohlkamp
The College of St. Scholastica

Baxter, Minn. | Brainerd

Abby Pohlkamp recorded five goals in a series sweep against Concordia on 1/12-13. Pohlkamp claimed her second hat trick of her career on 1/12 as she scored twice in regulation and the game-winning goal 22 seconds into overtime to lead the Saints to a 4-3 victory. The next day, Pohlkamp scored an even-strength and power-play goal in a 3-0 win over the Cobbers on 1/13.

Kylie Scott
Gustavus Adolphus College

Kylie Scott helped hold Saint Benedict to a total of 37 shots in a two-game Gustie sweep on 1/12-13. Scott added two goals from her defender position in the series, giving her six points in her last five games. Scott scored on a power play on 1/12 and added an insurance goal on 1/13.
