BLOOMINGTON, Minn. -- The Minnesota Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (MIAC) announced its Athlete of the Week award winners for swimming & diving and indoor track & field Tuesday. Student-athletes from Bethel, Carleton, Gustavus, St. Olaf, and St. Scholastica claimed the Conference's weekly honors.
The MIAC Athlete of the Week awards are nominated by the Conference's sports information directors and selected by MIAC staff. Throughout the winter season, team sports (basketball, hockey) Athletes of the Week will be recognized on Monday afternoons, with individual sports (swimming & diving, indoor track & field) announced on Tuesday afternoons. The winners of the latest Athlete of the Week awards are listed below, along with details on their outstanding performances.

MIAC Men's Swimming Athlete of the Week
Josh Wu

Josh Wu won two individual events and swam on two victorious relays as the Knights defeated St. Olaf 189-104 in a dual meet on 1/27. Wu swam on the Knights' 200-yard medley relay that combined on a time of 1:38.82. He added solo victories in the 100-yard freestyle (48.17, a 2.1-second margin of victory) and 100-yard breaststroke (1:00.22, a 1.98-second margin of victory). Wu closed the meet by swimming on the Knights' 400-yard freestyle relay that reached the wall at 3:14.96.
MIAC Men's Diving Athlete of the Week
Oscar Hanifl

Oscar Hanifl won both sessions of the one-meter diving for the Oles in a dual against Carleton on 1/27, qualifying for the NCAA Division III Region 1 Diving Championships in the process. Hanifl posted scores of 191.15 and 288.05 in the two sessions for a combined score of 479.2.

Charlotte Thomson recorded four top-two finishes, including three first-place performances, to account for 33 points for the Oles in a dual against Carleton on 1/27. Thomson won the 1,000-yard freestyle (11:04.16), the 500-yard freestyle (5:28.92), and was part of St. Olaf's winning 400-yard freestyle relay (3:49.28), while also placing second in the 100-yard freestyle (56.93).

Izzy Treanor posted the top score across two sessions of the one-meter diving in the Oles' dual with Carleton on 1/27. Treanor scored a combined total of 448 points to lead the field.
MIAC Men's Indoor Track Athlete of the Week
Will Kelly

Will Kelly broke the all-time program and conference records in the indoor 5,000-meter run with a time of 14:20.51 at the St. Olaf Invitational and Multi on 1/26. Kelly's converted time of 14:11.39 ranks fourth in NCAA Division III this season. Kelly was the runner-up in the event, finishing less than a second behind a runner from the University of Minnesota.

Trent Beseth had two personal best throws in the shot put and weight throw events at the St. Olaf Invitational on 1/28. Beseth earned first place in the shot put with his hurl of 16.27 meters (53' 4.50"), which bettered his own program record. He was a runner-up in the weight throw with a toss of 16.51 meters (54' 2.00"). His weight throw distance leads the MIAC while his shot put toss is second in the conference and 13th in the nation.

Megan Geraets led the Gusties to victory at the St. Olaf Invitational on 1/26-27 with a pair of record-breaking times. Geraets set the school record in winning the 400-meter with an adjusted time of 57.19, in addition to claiming a facility record in the 200-meter, winning that event in 25.03. Both times rank tenth in NCAA Division III this season. Geraets also placed second in the long jump with a distance of 5.24 meters (17' 2.25").

AnnaGrace Nelson won the pentathlon at the St. Olaf Invitational and Multis on 1/26-27 with a program-record point total of 3,149 points - a score that ranks 15th in NCAA Division III this season. Nelson won the 60-meter hurdles (9.24), high jump (1.59m), long jump (5.06m), and 800-meter run (2:44.08) while placing third in the shot put (8.97m). Her high jump mark is tops in the MIAC this season.
