MIAC Athletes of the Week - November 12, 2024

BLOOMINGTON, Minn. -- The Minnesota Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (MIAC) announced its Athlete of the Week award winners for swimming & diving on Tuesday. Student-athletes from Carleton, Gustavus, and Macalester claimed the Conference's weekly honors.

The MIAC Athlete of the Week awards are nominated by the Conference's sports information directors and selected by MIAC staff. Transitioning to the winter season, team sports (football, volleyball, basketball, and hockey) Athletes of the Week will be recognized on Monday afternoons, with individual sports (swimming & diving and indoor track & field) announced on Tuesday afternoons. The winners of the latest Athlete of the Week awards are listed below, along with details on their outstanding performances.

MIAC Men's Swimming Athlete of the Week
Peyton Richardson
Gustavus Adolphus College

Peyton Richardson went undefeated in the Gusties' 187.5-125.5 win over UW-Stevens Point on 11/9. Richardson took first in the 200 butterfly (1:59.26), 100 butterfly (51.61), and the 200 IM (1:59.76). He also added a relay win in the 200 medley, with the Gusties finishing in 1:37.56. His 200 fly and 200 IM times are both the fastest in the MIAC this season, while the Gusties now own the top time in the MIAC in the 200 medley relay.

MIAC Men's Diving Athlete of the Week
Dylan Herlihy
Macalester College

Dylan Herlihy won both the 1- and 3-meter diving competitions to help the Scots defeat Carleton, 144-140, on 11/9. Herlihy scored 167.90 off the 3-meter board and 165.35 off the 1-meter.


MIAC Women's Swimming Athlete of the Week
Geneva Fackler
Gustavus Adolphus College

Geneva Fackler contributed two of the Gusties' three first-place finishes against UW-Stevens Point on 11/9. Fackler touched the wall first in the 200 free with a time of 1:57.56 while also posting the best time in the 500 free with a 5:19.46. In the 200 medley, the Gusties finished in 1:50.68, while the 400 free relay came in at 3:42.76. Both her 200 and 500 free times rank first in the MIAC, while the two relay times also top the conference.

MIAC Women's Diving Athlete of the Week
Nina Schwab
Carleton College

Nina Schwab won the diving competition on both boards in the Knights' dual meet at Macalester on 11/9. Schwab scored 258.85 points in six dives on the 1-meter board, prevailing by more than 25 points and posting her second of two qualifying scores required to advance to the NCAA Regional Diving competition in late February. Schwab added a victory at the 3-meter height with a score of 248.45 over her six dives.
