BLOOMINGTON, Minn. -- The Minnesota Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (MIAC) announced its Athlete of the Week award winners for baseball, softball, and tennis on Monday. Student-athletes from Carleton, Gustavus, Saint Mary's, and St. Olaf claimed the Conference's weekly honors.
The MIAC Athlete of the Week awards are nominated by the Conference's sports information directors and selected by MIAC staff. Throughout the spring season, team sports (baseball, softball, and tennis) Athletes of the Week will be recognized on Monday afternoons, with individual sports (golf and indoor track & field) announced on Tuesday afternoons. The winners of the latest Athlete of the Week awards are listed below, along with details on their outstanding performances.

Brayden Kohls went 6-for-8 at the plate in the Gusties' sweep of Augsburg in the first conference series of the season on 3/29. In game one, Kohls hit 2-for-3 with two doubles, two runs, a sacrifice bunt, and an RBI. In game two, Kohls hit 4-for-5 with three runs and an RBI double. He finished the day with four consecutive hits, collecting six in the doubleheader with three doubles.

Addison Hochevar pitched a one-hit shutout over seven innings of work to preserve a 1-0 victory for the Cardinals over Hamline in the conference opener on 3/30. The senior southpaw allowed a one-out single in the first inning and walked one batter in the game, striking out five in total.
MIAC Softball Player of the Week

Amelia Christenson hit .600 (9-for-15) with a home run, three walks, two runs scored, and five RBI in the Oles' six games in Georgia last week. The junior had at least one hit in all six games, including three two-hit performances. She belted her first home run of the season in game one of a doubleheader at Emory on 3/25. Christenson posted a .632 on-base percentage and .800 slugging percentage while raising her season average from .148 to .310.
MIAC Softball Pitcher of the Week

Makayla Steffes pitched a complete-game five-inning shutout in the Cardinals' conference opener against St. Catherine on 3/29. Steffes allowed five hits, walked one, and struck out one in the first game of the doubleheader. Steffes returned in relief duty in the seventh inning of game two, inducing a popup to earn the save in a 5-4 win over the Wildcats.

Dominik Knutson won all three of his doubles matches and two of three singles matches against nationally-ranked opponents during the Gusties' spring break trip to southern California last week. Knutson started the week with a convincing 8-1 win against No. 8 Williams College at No. 3 doubles on 3/25. He dropped his No. 5 singles match for his only loss of the week. Knutson then won 8-5 at No. 3 doubles and 6-0, 4-6, 1-0 at No. 5 singles against No. 32 George Fox on 3/28. Knutson wrapped up the week with an 8-3 win at No. 3 doubles and 6-3, 5-7, 10-8 win at No. 5 singles against No. 26 Pomona-Pitzer on 3/29.
MIAC Women's Tennis Athlete of the Week

Amelia Asfaw won at the No. 1 singles and doubles spots in the Knights' victory over St. Catherine on 3/30. Following an 8-3 triumph at top doubles, Asfaw won 6-3, 6-0 at No. 1 singles to remain undefeated in both singles and doubles play this season.
