2025 MIAC Women's Golf Championship Preview

EDINA, Minn. – Championship season continues this weekend in the Minnesota Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (MIAC), as the 2025 MIAC Women's Golf Championships are set to begin on Saturday morning at Braemar Golf Course in Edina.

The MIAC's ten women's golf teams will begin the three-day, 54-hole conference championship this Saturday, October 4, and crown the MIAC champion on Monday, October 6.

This will be the first time that the MIAC Women's Golf Championships will be played at Braemar; the course hosted the MIAC Men's Golf Championships in 2024.

CHAMPIONSHIP 101
Each MIAC team will enter five players in the tournament, with the program's four best performances each day determining the team score. The team with the lowest score over the course of the tournament will receive the MIAC's automatic qualifier to the 2026 NCAA Division III Women's Golf Championships.

Action will begin Saturday morning with the first wave of golfers set to tee off at 11:00 a.m. Teams are seeded based on their finish in the 2024 MIAC Championships and golfers will tee off in descending order of their place in the lineup (No. 5 to No. 1). The 2024 MIAC Champion St. Catherine Wildcats will tee off alongside Carleton and Bethel to start the tournament at 11:00 a.m., with teams following in order of 2024 finish every ten minutes after. Macalester, Gustavus, and Saint Benedict are tentatively set to begin teeing off at 11:50 a.m. on Saturday, followed by St. Olaf, Augsburg, St. Scholastica, and Concordia at 12:40 p.m.

Sunday's tee times are also set to begin at 11:00 a.m., while Monday's final round is slated for a 9:00 a.m. start. Specific pairings for Sunday and Monday will be reordered from high to low according to the previous day's scores. Tentative tee times and pairings for the tournament will be available online on the championship home page.

AROUND THE MIAC
Augsburg junior Emma Larsen (Milaca, Minn. / Milaca) has been the Auggies' low-scorer in all seven of her rounds this fall, highlighted by a 13th-place finish at the Twin Ports Collegiate on 9/6-7 and a 12th-place result at the Martin Luther College Fall Invitational on 9/27.

Bethel junior Sophie Brantner (West Fargo, N.D. / Oak Grove Lutheran) opened the 2025-26 campaign by tying for second-place on the individual leaderboard at the CSB Invitational on 8/29-30. Brantner shot a 10-over-par 154 over 36 holes at Blackberry Ridge in Sartell. She carded a season-best 74 (+2) in the second round.

Carleton senior Carter Sichol (Winnetka, Ill. / New Trier) was the medalist at the Carleton Fall Invite on 9/6-7, leading the Knights to the team victory at the two-day tournament. It was the 10th individual tournament title of her collegiate career. Sichol had four birdies while posting an opening-round 78 (+5) at Bellwood Oaks Golf Club, then carded four more birdies en route to a final-round 71 (-1) at the Legacy Golf Club. Thanks to her field-leading eight birdies, Sichol's 36-hole score of 149 was good for a three-stroke margin of victory. Sichol has placed among the top four golfers at each of her previous MIAC Championship appearances, earning medalist honors as a sophomore in 2023.

Concordia first-year Nora Benson (Fargo, N.D. / Davies) carded a 74 (+2) to begin the D3 Classic on 9/14. Her scorecard featured 15 pars, one birdie, one bogey, and one double bogey, giving her the lowest score by a Cobber women's golfer since Katie Taylor registered a 74 at the 2003 NCAA Championships.

Gustavus senior Lauren Hubbart (Hastings, Minn. / Hastings) led the Gusties to a first-place team finish at the Blugold Georgianni Invitational on 9/6-7. Hubbart posted scores of 81 and 83 to place second overall on the individual leaderboard, two shots out of first place. She has finished among the top 10 golfers at three of the five meets in which she has competed this fall.

Macalester senior Bailey Lengfelder (Renton, Wash. / Hazen) won the CSB Invitational on 8/29-30 with a two-round score of 151 (+7), including a 1-over-par 73 on 8/30. Lengfelder's performance helped Macalester come back to win the team title after trailing by eight strokes heading into the final round. The individual title was Lengfelder's third medalist honor of her collegiate career.

Saint Benedict senior Catherine Jance (Hopkins, Minn. / Hopkins) recorded the lowest 36-hole score in program history in her runner-up finish at the St. Kate's Fall Invite on 9/20-21. After posting a career-best 72 (E) in the first round, Jance bettered that score by one with a 1-under-par 71 in round two. Jance's play helped the Bennies break a 20-year-old single-round program record with a team score of 302 in the first round. With a 309 in the second round, CSB also secured a new 36-hole low of 611. Jance has placed among the top five golfers at each of her four meets this season.

St. Catherine sophomore Caylin Cantwell (Blaine, Minn. / Totino Grace) led the Wildcats to their best team finish of the fall season with a tournament-low round of 298 on day two of the St. Kate's Fall Invite on 9/21. Cantwell's par round of 72 earned her fifth-place on the individual leaderboard and helped secure second-place as a team for the Wildcats. It was Cantwell's second top-five finish of the season; the first was a runner-up result at the Carleton Fall Invite on 9/6-7.

St. Olaf sophomore Anneliese Carlson (Albuquerque, N.M. / Albuquerque Academy) put together her two lowest rounds of the season with scores of 77 (+5) and 75 (+3) to place sixth at the D3 Classic on 9/13-14. Carlson tied for first in the field in par-3 scoring for the weekend (3.10, +1) and carded three of her four birdies in the tournament during the second round.

St. Scholastica junior Kate Anderson (Mora, Minn. / Mora) carded the Saints' two lowest rounds of the season at the D3 Classic on 9/13-14. Anderson shot 83 in the first round and 86 in the second. Her 18-hole career low score entering the tournament was 88.
