Hedin steps down as Concordia head men's soccer coach

MOORHEAD, Minn. -- Jon Hedin announced that he is stepping down as head coach of the men's soccer program after the completion of the 2025 season.

"This program is a special place, and I have been very blessed to lead it for the past four seasons," Hedin said. "I am eager to see it grow as it enters the next chapter in its history."

Hedin is in his fourth season as head coach of the Cobbers and 12th overall with the program. He was an assistant coach from the 2014 through the 2017 seasons and then again from 2019-2021 when he was hired as the interim head coach for the 2022 season.

Hedin was hired as the program's full-time coach in the winter of 2023.

"We thank Jon for his leadership and the dedication he has shown to our student-athletes and men's soccer program," Athletic Director Rachel Bergeson said. "We also thank him for the ways he embodied the values of Concordia College and wish him the very best in the next chapter of his career."

Hedin was the eighth head coach in the history of the Cobber men's soccer program.

Hedin, who is originally from Andover, Minn., played for Concordia from 2007-10.

Before becoming as assistant at Concordia, Hedin was a prominent figure in the Fargo-Moorhead club soccer scene where he had been a head coach for the Tri-City organization since his college playing days.

Bergeson said that a search for the next men's soccer head coach will begin immediately.
