MIAC Athletes of the Week - November 10, 2025

BLOOMINGTON, Minn. -- The Minnesota Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (MIAC) announced its Athlete of the Week award winners for football, volleyball, basketball, and hockey on Monday. Student-athletes from Bethel, Concordia, Gustavus, Hamline, Saint Benedict, St. Catherine, St. Olaf, and St. Scholastica claimed the Conference's weekly honors.
 
The MIAC Athlete of the Week awards are nominated by the Conference's sports information directors and selected by MIAC staff. Transitioning from the fall to winter seasons, team sports (football, volleyball, basketball, and hockey) Athletes of the Week will be recognized on Monday afternoons, with individual sports (swimming & diving) announced on Tuesday afternoons. The winners of the latest Athlete of the Week awards are listed below, along with details on their outstanding performances.

MIAC Football Offensive Player of the Week
Albert Rundell

Albert Rundell caught 21 passes for 214 yards and five touchdowns in the Royals' 49-7 victory over Carleton to secure at least a share of the MIAC championship and the conference's automatic qualifier to the NCAA Division III Football Playoffs. Rundell's 21 receptions are a new conference record, while his five receiving scores tie the league mark. Rundell now leads all levels of college football (NCAA and NAIA) with 1,279 receiving yards this year.
 
MIAC Football Defensive Player of the Week
Kyle Mages

Kyle Mages led the Cobbers with 11.0 tackles - including nine solo stops and one tackle for loss - and a critical interception in the team's 17-14 victory over Macalester on 11/8. Mages' fourth pick in as many games came with Concordia down by four points with just over eight minutes remaining in the fourth quarter. On 4th-and-13 from the Cobbers' 20-yard line, Mages intercepted the Macalester pass near the goal line and returned it out to the 26, setting the stage for a game-winning drive.
 
MIAC Football Special Teams Player of the Week
Ethan Hess

Ethan Hess set the Oles' single-season record for made field goals at 14 by adding two more to his 2025 total in a 41-34 win over Hamline on 11/8. Hess connected on field goals of 31 and 44, with the latter matching his career-long. Hess also went 5-for-5 on PAT tries in the win.

MIAC Volleyball Offensive Player of the Week

Keira McManus averaged 4.0 kills and hit .367 while leading the Bennies to a pair of conference sweeps to close out the regular season. McManus tallied 11 kills in a 3-0 victory over Bethel on 11/5 before adding 13 kills and a hitting percentage of .522 in a sweep of Carleton on 11/8.
 
MIAC Volleyball Specialty Player of the Week
Kaitlyn Kotek
Hamline University
Sr. | Setter
Northfield, Minn. / Northfield
 
Kaitlyn Kotek posted a 36-assist, 23-dig double-double to propel the Pipers to an upset victory over Gustavus on 11/8. Both figures were season bests.

MIAC Men's Basketball Offensive Player of the Week
Rex Lamb

Rex Lamb scored a career-high 23 points on 9-for-12 shooting, including going 3-for-4 from three-point range, in the Oles' 76-69 season-opening loss to Wartburg on 11/8. Lamb entered the game with a career-high scoring output of 11. He added three assists and five steals in the game.
 
MIAC Men's Basketball Defensive Player of the Week
Carson Koch

Carson Koch totaled 19 rebounds and four steals in a pair of Gustie victories over Aurora (11/7) and Rockford (11/8). Koch grabbed ten boards – eight on the defensive end of the floor – against Aurora before pulling down all nine of his rebounds on defense against Rockford.

MIAC Women's Basketball Offensive Player of the Week
Jordyn Peed

Jordyn Peed averaged 19.5 points and shot 52.9 percent from the field in a pair of Wildcat wins to open the season. Peed scored 19 in a 78-59 win over UW-Superior on 11/7 and poured in 20 in a non-conference matchup with Macalester on 11/8. She also contributed 11 rebounds, eight steals, and four assists on the weekend.
 
MIAC Women's Basketball Defensive Player of the Week
Jackie Johnson
The College of St. Scholastica

Jackie Johnson came away with eight steals in the Saints' two victories at the CSB Tip-Off Tournament to open the season. Johnson had three steals in a 64-53 win against Bethany Lutheran on 11/7 and snagged five in an 84-68 victory over Minnesota Morris on 11/8. She added six rebounds and 14 points in the two games.

Jonathan Panisa

Jonathan Panisa recorded two goals and one assist to help lead the Oles to a 1-0-1 weekend against WIAC foes. Panisa scored the game-winning goal at 1:02 of overtime in a 3-2 victory over UW-Eau Claire on 11/7 before adding a goal and an assist in a 3-3 tie against nationally-ranked UW-Superior on 11/8.
 
MIAC Men's Hockey Defensive Player of the Week

Austin Ryman made 36 saves in the Royals' 4-0 shutout of nationally-ranked UW-Stevens Point on 11/7. Ryman made double-digit saves in every period of the win.

MIAC Women's Hockey Offensive Player of the Week
Grace Chapman
The College of St. Scholastica

Grace Chapman recorded a natural hat trick – the first of her collegiate career – in the Saints' 4-3 loss to two-time defending national champion UW-River Falls on 11/8. Chapman scored twice in the first eleven minutes of the game and found the back of the net for the third time to tie the game early in the third period.

Baylyn Shankman saved 29-of-30 shots for the Oles in a 2-1 win over UW-Eau Claire on 11/7. Shankman made double-digit saves in both the second and third periods in the win.
