MIAC Athletes of the Week - December 22, 2025

BLOOMINGTON, Minn. -- The Minnesota Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (MIAC) announced its Athlete of the Week award winners for basketball on Monday. Student-athletes from Bethel, Carleton, Concordia, and Gustavus claimed the Conference's weekly honors.
 
The MIAC Athlete of the Week awards are nominated by the Conference's sports information directors and selected by MIAC staff. Throughout the winter season, team sports (basketball and hockey) Athletes of the Week will be recognized on Monday afternoons, with individual sports (swimming & diving and indoor track & field) announced on Tuesday afternoons. The winners of the latest Athlete of the Week awards are listed below, along with details on their outstanding performances.

MIAC Men's Basketball Offensive Player of the Week
Matt Drake

Matt Drake averaged 23.0 points per game in three non-conference road games for the Knights before the holiday break. Drake connected on 14-of-19 shots for a career-high 38 points in Carleton's 104-97 loss to Martin Luther on 12/16 before turning in two more double-digit scoring performances against Grove City (17 points on 12/19) and Williams (14 points on 12/20). Drake has scored at least 14 points in each of his last ten games.
 
MIAC Men's Basketball Defensive Player of the Week
Jackson Loge
Concordia College

Jackson Loge pulled down a career-high 22 rebounds in the Cobbers' 20-point win over Oak Hills Christian on 12/19. Loge also scored 25 points in the win to become the first Cobber since 2009 to post a 20-20 game. Loge added two steals and a pair of blocked shots in the win.

MIAC Women's Basketball Offensive Player of the Week
Ella Peters

Ella Peters made 10 of her 12 shots for a career-high 21 points in the Gusties' rout of Northwestern-St. Paul on 12/16. Peters scored 19 of her 21 points in the first three quarters of play, and 15 in the first half. Peters has posted double-digit point totals in five of her last six games.

MIAC Women's Basketball Defensive Player of the Week
Elly Schmitz
Bethel University

Elly Schmitz averaged 9.0 rebounds, 2.5 steals, and 1.5 blocks in two victories for the Royals at the Justagame Invitational on 12/19-20. Schmitz came away with nine boards against both UW-La Crosse (12/19) and Coe (12/20), adding four steals and two blocks against the Eagles and one of each in a double-overtime win against the Kohawks. Schmitz also scored 15 points against UW-La Crosse and poured in 23 against Coe.
