BLOOMINGTON, Minn. – The 2025 Minnesota Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (MIAC) Women's Basketball Playoffs tipped off on Tuesday night with a pair of quarterfinal contests. No. 5 Saint Benedict defeated No. 4 Concordia, 68-64, while No. 3 Hamline held off No. 6 Saint Mary's, 73-61.
The Bennies will now hit the road once again to take on No. 1 Bethel for a 7:00 p.m. tip-off in the semifinals on Thursday, while Hamline will travel to No. 2 Gustavus for an 8:00 p.m. semifinal game.
NO. 5 SAINT BENEDICT 68, NO. 4 CONCORDIA 64 | Box Score |
The MIAC's career leader in three-pointers connected on a trio of long-distance shots to help lead Saint Benedict past Concordia, 68-64, in Moorhead on Tuesday. Senior guard Sophia Jonas scored nine of her team-high 13 points from beyond the arc, including one to tie the game, 62-62, with two minutes left to play in regulation. Fellow Bennie Kira Young led all players with 14 rebounds in the win. Concordia was led by senior forward Makayla Anderson, who finished with a game-high 19 points to go along with 10 boards for a double-double.
CSB will take on No. 1 Bethel in the semifinal round on Thursday. The Bennies have ended Bethel's season in the quarterfinal round in each of the last two conference tournaments; however, the Royals claimed both regular-season contests between the programs this season, including in the regular season finale last Saturday. Tip-off for Thursday's semifinal is set for 7:00 p.m. at the Robertson Center Gym in Arden Hills.
NO. 3 HAMLINE 73, NO. 6 SAINT MARY'S 61 | Box Score |
All five Hamline starters ended up in double figures as the Pipers successfully defended their home court against Saint Mary's, 73-61, on Tuesday night. Hamline guard Josie Wiebusch went 4-for-4 from the field, with nine of her 12 points in the game coming from behind the three-point line. The Pipers shot 51 percent from the field as a team and made 10 of their 20 three-point attempts while holding the Cardinals to just under 37 percent shooting from the floor and 27.3 percent from long range in the game. Saint Mary's guard Brianna Nusbaum led all players with 20 points in the contest.
Hamline will challenge No. 2 Gustavus in the semifinal round on Thursday. The two programs have only met in the MIAC Playoffs twice before and have not seen each other in the postseason since the 2020 quarterfinals. Gustavus won the regular-season matchup with Hamline, 67-51, in January. Tip-off time for the semifinal contest is tentatively scheduled for 8:00 p.m. in St. Peter, following the 5:00 p.m. Gustavus men's semifinal game.
