MIAC Athletes of the Week - September 15, 2025

BLOOMINGTON, Minn. -- The Minnesota Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (MIAC) announced its Athlete of the Week award winners for football, volleyball, and soccer on Monday. Student-athletes from Bethel, Gustavus, Saint Benedict, Saint John's, and St. Olaf claimed the Conference's weekly honors.

The MIAC Athlete of the Week awards are nominated by the Conference's sports information directors and selected by MIAC staff. Throughout the fall season, team sports (football, soccer, and volleyball) Athletes of the Week will be recognized on Monday afternoons, with individual sports (cross country and golf) announced on Tuesday afternoons. The winners of the latest Athlete of the Week awards are listed below, along with details on their outstanding performances.

MIAC Football Offensive Player of the Week
Tyler Terry
Bethel University

Jr. | Wide Receiver
Blaine, Minn. / Blaine

Tyler Terry led the Royals with 15 catches for 177 yards and two touchdowns in a 50-3, season-opening victory against Northwestern-St. Paul on 9/13. Both of Terry's touchdowns - a 12-yard score and a 40-yard strike - came in the first quarter. Terry entered the game with ten catches for 86 yards and one touchdown for his collegiate career. 

MIAC Football Defensive Player of the Week
Jack St. Fleur
Saint John's University

San Diego, Calif. / Christian Unified

Jack St. Fleur was one of four Johnnies with five tackles and returned a third-quarter interception 40 yards for a touchdown in the team's 49-0, season-opening win against Minnesota Morris on 9/13. The interception return for a touchdown was SJU's first by a safety since the 2017 campaign. St. Fleur and the Johnnies held the Cougars to 124 yards and nine first downs in the victory.

MIAC Football Special Teams Player of the Week
Zach Bengtson
Bethel University

Becker, Minn. / Becker

Zach Bengtson connected on three first-half field goals and six PAT tries for the Royals in a 50-3 victory over Northwestern-St. Paul on 9/13. Bengtson made kicks of 30 yards, 31 yards, and 25 yards, all in the second quarter, and went 6-for-7 on extra-point attempts in the win.


MIAC Volleyball Offensive Player of the Week
Peyton Howie
Bethel University

Jr. | Middle Blocker
Blaine, Minn. / Irondale

Peyton Howie hit .429 with 40 kills and three service aces as the Royals went 3-1 last week. Howie averaged 4.13 points, 3.33 kills, and 0.67 blocks per set in three-set matches against UW-Eau Claire (9/10), Augustana (9/12), Illinois Tech (9/13), and Grinnell (9/13), with a hitting percentage north of .500 against both the Scarlett Hawks and Pioneers.

MIAC Volleyball Specialty Player of the Week
Macie Malchow
Gustavus Adolphus College

So. | Setter
Sioux Falls, S.D. / Washington

Macie Malchow averaged 8.36 assists per set with 117 helpers in total to lead the Gusties to four match victories at the Loras Invitational on 9/12-13. After recording 35 combined assists in three-set sweeps over Loras and Edgewood on 9/12, Malchow posted 33 assists in a four-set win over Cornell and a season-best 49 assists in a 3-1 win over Coe on 9/13.


MIAC Men's Soccer Offensive Player of the Week
Joe Flory
Gustavus Adolphus College

Whitchurch, England / The King's School Chester

Joe Flory played a role in all three of the Gusties' second-half goals in a come-from-behind road win against regionally-ranked Luther on 9/12. Flory scored the equalizer in the 54th minute and went on to score the game-winner in the 77th minute to put the Gusties up 3-2. He added an assist on an insurance goal just before the 80-minute mark for a five-point afternoon.

MIAC Men's Soccer Defensive Player of the Week
Griffin Blokker
Bethel University

Doylestown, Penn. / Central Bucks West

Griffin Blokker spent 270 minutes between the posts last week, helping the Royals to a 2-0-1 record in three non-conference contests. Blokker tallied nine saves and three goals allowed as Bethel tied with Bethany Lutheran (9/9) and collected road wins over Grinnell (9/12) and Simpson (9/13).


MIAC Women's Soccer Offensive Player of the Week
Rachel Anderson
St. Olaf College

Minneapolis, Minn. / Roosevelt

Rachel Anderson scored three goals in the Oles' two victories last week, which included recording the first two-goal performance of her collegiate career in a 6-1 win over UW-Stevens Point on 9/10. The sophomore scored twice in the Oles' five-goal first half against the Pointers before adding the game-winning goal in a 3-1 victory at Northwestern-St. Paul on 9/13.

MIAC Women's Soccer Defensive Player of the Week
Rhianna Anya
College of Saint Benedict

Jr. | Goalkeeper
Bloomington, Minn. / Jefferson

Rhianna Anya made nine saves with one goal allowed in 90 minutes of action against a pair of WIAC foes last week. Anya was credited with her first win of the season in a five-save, 1-0 shutout at UW-Eau Claire on 9/10 before adding four more stops with one goal allowed in a loss at UW-Oshkosh on 9/14.
