BLOOMINGTON, Minn. - With a third of the Minnesota Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (MIAC) women's hockey season in the books, just two standings points separate the top four teams in the league. Hamline (5-1-0) sits atop the standings with 14 points in six games played, followed by Augsburg (4-1-1) in second with 13 points, and St. Olaf (4-2-0) and Saint Benedict (3-1-2) tied for third with 12 points apiece.

NATIONAL NOTABLES
Augsburg senior goaltender Marissa Paaske (Crystal Lake, Minn. / Crystal Lake Central) ranks second in NCAA Division III with a goals-against average of 0.492 this season. She is
Paaske is tied for eighth in NCAA Division III with a win percentage of 0.833 this season. Her three shutouts on the season are tied for the seventh-most in D-III.

Hamline first-year forward Ella Rothe (Hermantown, Minn. / Hermantown) is tied for sixth in NCAA Division III with four power-play goals this season.

Hamline junior defender Abigail Chamernick (Warroad, Minn. / Warroad) is tied for the third-highest assists-per-game in NCAA Division III this season at 1.08. Her 1.46 points per game this season rank ninth in D-III.

Hamline sophomore Kendra Nordick (Warroad, Minn. / Warroad) is tied for eighth in NCAA Division III with a win percentage of 0.833 this season. Nordick ranks ninth in D-III with a goals-against average of 1.168 this season.

Hamline sophomore Harper Powell (Two Harbors, Minn. / Two Harbors) is tied for sixth in NCAA Division III with a win percentage of 0.857 and a save percentage of 0.954 this season. Powell has a goals-against average of 1.061 this season, seventh-best in D-III.

St. Catherine sophomore forward Ana Myers (Lino Lakes, Minn. / Gentry) is tied for third in NCAA Division III with an average of 0.92 goals per game this season. Myers has won 184 faceoffs this season, the sixth-most in NCAA Division III. Her five goals against Lawrence on 1/9 are the most by any NCAA women's hockey player in a single game this season. Her five goals and one assist against Lawrence made Myers one of four players in D-III to record a six-point game this season.

St. Olaf senior forward Solvei Berg-Messerole (Minneapolis, Minn. / Highland Park) ranks seventh in NCAA Division III with 179 faceoffs won this season.


AROUND THE MIAC
Augsburg senior goaltender Marissa Paaske (Crystal Lake, Minn. / Crystal Lake Central) stopped all 17 shots she faced in the Auggies' 4-0 victory at UW-Stevens Point on 1/10. It was Paaske's second consecutive shutout, her third shutout of the season, and set a new program record as the ninth shutout of her Augsburg career.

Bethel junior forward Malia McKinnon (Forest Lake, Minn. / Forest Lake) recorded two goals and one assist in the Royals' two 3-1 victories over UW-Superior on 1/9-10. McKinnon scored once and assisted on another goal on 1/9 before scoring another goal the following day. She also won 23 faceoffs in the series.

Concordia senior forward Memphis Mertens (Roseau, Minn. / Roseau) assisted on two of the Cobbers' four goals in a 4-2 win at UW-Superior on 1/6. Mertens has four assists over her last four games and has tallied at least one point in four of the last five contests.

Gustavus senior forward Gianna Gasparini (Lakeville, Minn. / Lakeville North) accounted for the Gusties' lone goal in their series against two-time defending national champion UW-River Falls on 1/10 and 1/13. Gasparini has a goal and an assist on the season, both logged over the last three games. Gustavus has faced a string of six consecutive nationally-ranked opponents, going 3-3-0 against them.

Hamline junior defender Abigail Chamernick (Warroad, Minn. / Warroad) scored two goals and assisted on five in the Pipers' three non-conference wins last week. Chamernick's first goal came on a power play against Endicott on 1/5, while her second was the game-winner against UMass Boston on 1/6. She had two assists in each of those contests as well, and added one more helper against UW-Stevens Point on 1/11.

Saint Benedict senior defender Presley Kraemer (Brooklyn Park, Minn. / Osseo) scored four goals in a sweep of Dubuque on 1/9-10. Kraemer tallied her second hat trick of the season in a 10-0 win on 1/9 and scored again on a power play on 1/10. Kraemer is the first CSB player since the 2000-01 campaign to record two hat tricks in the same season.

St. Catherine sophomore forward Ana Myers (Lino Lakes, Minn. / Gentry) enjoyed a career week thanks to a five-goal, six-point performance in the Wildcats' victory over Lawrence on 1/9. Myers tallied a hat trick - the third of her collegiate career - by the end of the first period, before adding one more goal in each of the next two frames of the team's 7-2 win. Her first two goals of the game came on power play opportunities. She was also credited with an assist on the Wildcats' first goal of the third period, and added another helper in the team's 2-0 series-clinching win on 1/10.

Saint Mary's junior defender Celia Midtbo (Minneapolis, Minn. / Minneapolis) scored her first three goals of the season in the second game of the Cardinals' sweep of UW-Stevens Point on 1/3. After recording two blocks and a +2 in the opening game of the weekend series on 1/2, Midtbo contributed all three goals in the team's 3-1 win on 1/3 while adding one more block to her stat line as well. The hat trick was the second of her collegiate career.

St. Olaf senior forward Solvei Berg-Messerole (Minneapolis, Minn. / Highland Park) had a four-point weekend with two goals and two assists in the Oles' non-conference sweep of Aurora on 1/9-10. Berg-Messerole tallied a goal and an assist in both a 4-2 win on 1/9 and a 3-2 overtime victory on 1/10, becoming the fourth Ole in program history to record 50 career assists. She also won 64.2 percent (34-for-53) of her faceoffs on the weekend.

St. Scholastica senior goaltender Makenzie Cole (Cohasset, Minn. / Grand Rapids) backstopped the Saints to a weekend sweep of nationally-ranked St. Norbert on 1/9-10. Cole faced 83 total shots and stopped 82 of them, including a season-high 44 in a 3-1 win over the Green Knights on 1/9. Twelve of Cole's 44 saves came during the Saints' six minutes of penalty-kill time. Cole went on to record 38 saves for a 1-0 win and her second shutout of the season.
