MIAC Athletes of the Week - October 5, 2026

FARMINGTON, Minn. -- The Minnesota Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (MIAC) announced its Athlete of the Week award winners for football, volleyball, soccer, and tennis on Monday. Student-athletes from Carleton, Gustavus, Saint John's, and St. Olaf claimed the Conference's weekly honors.
 
The MIAC Athlete of the Week awards are nominated by the Conference's sports information directors and selected by MIAC staff. Throughout the fall season, team sports (football, soccer, and volleyball) Athletes of the Week will be recognized on Monday afternoons, with individual sports (cross country and golf) announced on Tuesday afternoons. The winners of the latest Athlete of the Week awards are listed below, along with details on their outstanding performances.

MIAC Football Offensive Player of the Week
Trey Feeney

Trey Feeney completed 88.4 percent (38-of-43) of his throws for 355 yards and six touchdowns with no interceptions in the Johnnies' 42-16 win over fellow top-10-ranked Bethel on 10/3. Feeney began the game with 15 straight completions and finished with 38 in total, the second-most by a Saint John's quarterback in program history. The six-touchdown performance was his second of the season and fourth of his SJU career.
 
MIAC Football Defensive Player of the Week

Tytan Small totaled five tackles, 3.5 tackles for loss, two sacks, two forced fumbles, and one fumble recovery in the Oles' 23-21 victory over Augsburg on 10/3. Small had a strip-sack that set up an early second-quarter touchdown and added another one late in the second quarter before recovering a fumble midway through the fourth quarter. His linebacker play also helped St. Olaf limit Augsburg to six rushing yards on 20 attempts.
 
MIAC Football Special Teams Player of the Week
Patrick Gardner

Patrick Gardner made all five of his kicks, including the game-winning field goal as time expired, in the Oles' 23-21 win over Augsburg on 10/3. Gardner connected on three field goals, with successful conversions from 32, 25, and 20 yards out, in addition to a pair of extra point tries. Gardner split the uprights from 20 yards out to punctuate a five-play, 89-yard game-winning drive in the final 80 seconds of regulation to give the Oles their first win of the season.

MIAC Volleyball Offensive Player of the Week

Sophia Deyak hit .512 with 27 kills in a pair of four-set conference wins for the Gusties on 10/2-3. Deyak hit .375 with nine kills and eight blocks in a 3-1 victory at Augsburg on 10/2 before doubling that kill total with 18 on 27 swings (.593) in a 3-1 win at Saint Mary's on 10/3.
 
MIAC Volleyball Specialty Player of the Week
Sahara Morken

Sahara Morken totaled 79 assists across eight sets (9.88/set) and two conference wins for the Gusties on 10/2-3. Morken had 40 assists in a 3-1 win at Augsburg on 10/2 and posted 39 helpers in a 3-1 win against Saint Mary's on 10/3. She also contributed 13 digs across the two road victories.

MIAC Men's Soccer Offensive Player of the Week

Tustin Todd scored goals in both of the Oles' wins last week to help the team extend its perfect start to 11-0-0. Todd curled the ball into the top corner as part of a late three-goal flurry in a 3-0 victory at Carleton on 9/30 before scoring the opening goal in a 4-0 win over Concordia on 10/3.

Jackson Baker earned a shutout with four saves against regionally ranked Macalester on 9/30 and added three more stops in a 1-1 draw against Augsburg on 10/3. The Auggies had scored 15 combined goals in their two conference wins entering the game. Baker's shutout against the Scots was his third clean sheet in seven starts this season.

MIAC Women's Soccer Offensive Player of the Week
Tessa Zachmann

Tessa Zachmann scored two goals and added an assist in conference matchups with Macalester (9/29) and Augsburg (10/3). Zachmann scored the Gusties' lone goal in a 2-1 loss to the Scots before tallying the first game-winner of her collegiate career in a 4-1 home win against the Auggies.
 
MIAC Women's Soccer Defensive Player of the Week
Zaraya Jordan
Carleton College

Zaraya Jordan anchored a backline that kept the Knights atop the conference standings with a pair of home wins last week. Carleton surrendered just seven total shots in a 2-1 victory over St. Olaf on 9/29 before permitting only four shots overall and just one on goal in a shutout victory against Bethel on 10/3.

MIAC Men's Tennis Player of the Week

Dominik Knutson picked up five singles victories en route to the ITA Midwest Regional Championship match over the weekend. His run to the title match included outround victories over Luther and Grinnell. Knutson also collected four doubles wins to qualify for the doubles championship.


MIAC Women's Tennis Player of the Week
Karina Elvestrom

Karina Elvestrom won the 2026 ITA Division III Women's Midwest Regional Championships for both singles and doubles for the third year in a row on 9/25-28. Elvestrom won six singles matches and five doubles bouts to secure the regional three-peat.
