News & Links 10/6/2026 1:00:00 PM MIAC Athletes of the Week - October 6, 2026 FARMINGTON, Minn. -- The Minnesota Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (MIAC) announced its Athlete of the Week award winners for golf and cross country on Tuesday. Student-athletes from Bethel, Saint John's, and Macalester claimed the Conference's weekly honors. The MIAC Athlete of the Week awards are nominated by the Conference's sports information directors and selected by MIAC staff. Throughout the fall season, team sports (football, soccer, and volleyball) Athletes of the Week will be recognized on Monday afternoons, with individual sports (cross country and golf) announced on Tuesday afternoons. The winners of the latest Athlete of the Week awards are listed below, along with details on their outstanding performances. MIAC Men's Cross Country Athlete of the Week Cole Stencel Saint John's University Sr. Mapleton, Minn. / Maple River Cole Stencel finished first out of 326 runners with a personal-best 8K time of 25:17.1 as SJU claimed second out of 20 teams in the Maize Division race at Carleton's pre-nationals Running of the Cows on 10/3. Stencel's 8K time is the fastest in the MIAC this season. MIAC Women's Cross Country Athlete of the Week Ingrid Norquist Macalester College Sr. Minneapolis, Minn. / Anoka Ingrid Norquist finished 10th in the Navy Championship race at Carleton's pre-nationals Running of the Cows meet on 10/3. Norquist covered the 6K course in 21:44.3, securing the fastest 6K time in the MIAC this season. MIAC Men's Golf Athlete of the Week Carson Hannestad Bethel University Jr. Fargo, N.D. / Fargo North Carson Hannestad earned medalist honors at the 54-hole Twin Cities Classic on 10/3-5 with a program record score of 208 (72-66-70, -9). Hannestad's three-round tally of 208 is the third-lowest 54-hole score in recorded MIAC history, and one stroke shy of the all-time conference record of 207. MIAC Women's Golf Athlete of the Week MIAC Athlete of the Week honors are awarded for regular-season performances only; of historic note, however, St. Catherine junior Caylin Cantwell (Blaine, Minn. / Totino Grace) set new MIAC Women's Golf Championship records for 18-hole score (67), 36-hole score (136), and 54-hole score (210) to lead the Wildcats to the sixth conference title in program history at the 2026 MIAC Women's Golf Championships on 10/2-4.
