FARMINGTON, Minn. — League play begins on Wednesday for Minnesota Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (MIAC) women's soccer teams.

Heading into the first conference contests of the season, Saint Benedict boasts a 5-0-0 record, while St. Olaf also remains unbeaten with a 2-0-3 non-conference mark.

• St. Olaf senior forward Emily Johnson (Vadnais Heights, Minn. / Mounds View) is tied for second in NCAA Division III with seven total goals and 16 total points this season.
• St. Scholastica sophomore forward Anna Manion (Superior, Wis. / Superior) is tied for second in NCAA Division III with 16 total points this season. She is also tied for fifth in D-III with six total goals on the year. Manion is averaging 1.00 assists per game, tied for the seventh-best clip in Division III this season, while her four total assists on the season are tied for the eighth-most in D-III.

Around the MIAC

• Augsburg sophomore midfielder Eliza Cory (Burnsville, Minn. / Apple Valley) scored her first collegiate goal on a penalty kick in the Auggies' 2-2 tie with North Park on 9/12. The PK conversion tied the game with 2:32 remaining.
• Bethel senior midfielder Hannah Kvant (St. Michael, Minn. / STMA) recorded all three goals in the Royals' 3-0 win at UW-River Falls on 9/7. It was the second hat trick of Kvant's collegiate career; she scored four goals in her Bethel debut at Northwestern on 9/1/2023.
• Carleton senior goalkeeper Avery Trapp (Barrington, Ill. / Barrington) posted a pair of shutouts for the Knights last week, backstopping a 1-0 win over Claremont-Mudd Scripps on 9/11 and a 3-0 win over Simpson College on 9/13. She has allowed just one goal in three starts this season and has been credited with a shutout in 14 of her last 25 appearances, dating back to last season.
• Concordia senior midfielder Nora Schwieters (Melrose, Minn. / Melrose) scored her first goal of the season on a dead ball from 50 yards out in the Cobbers' loss to Simpson on 9/11. Schwieters was credited with an assist in the team's 6-2 season-opening victory over Minnesota Morris on 9/1.
• Gustavus senior goalkeeper Katelyn Olson (Cloquet, Minn. / Cloquet) collected a conference-leading and career-high 17 saves in the Gusties' road loss to UW-La Crosse on 9/9. Olson added another four saves in a 1-0 loss to MSOE on 9/12.
• Hamline junior forward Addyson Barrett (Chisago City, Minn. / Chisago Lakes) posted back-to-back two-goal games to help the Pipers advance to 4-0 for the first time since 2016 last week. After collecting her first goal of the season against Bethany Lutheran on 9/5, Barrett connected on two of the Pipers' three goals in a shutout of North Central on 9/9 before accounting for another two scores in a 4-0 win against Minnesota Morris on 9/11.
• Macalester junior forward Erica Hamilton (Los Angeles, Calif. / Palisades Charter) has factored into the scoring in each of the Scots' last three games. Hamilton scored an insurance goal in a 3-0 win at UW-Oshkosh on 9/6 and assisted on the game-winner against UW-Superior on 9/10 before tallying Macalester's lone goal in a 2-1 loss to Claremont-Mudd-Scripps on 9/13.
• Saint Benedict first-year defender Mia Schellenberg (Champlin, Minn. / Champlin Park) helped the Bennies outscore their opponents 11-0 in a pair of contests last week to advance to 5-0 for the first time since 2007. Schellenberg and the CSB defense have not allowed a goal in their last 301 minutes of game time and allowed only one shot on goal in their last two games. Schellenberg also contributed on the offensive end of the field, scoring her first collegiate goal in the ninth minute of the team's win over Minnesota Morris on 9/13.
• St. Catherine senior midfielder Bella Meier (Hastings, Minn. / Hastings) tallied the game-winning goal in the Wildcats' 2-1 victory over UW-Eau Claire on 9/12. Meier received a corner kick and knocked the ball off the crossbar and into the goal for the go-ahead tally. She has two goals and an assist in her last two games.
• Saint Mary's junior defender Ana Beckman (Blaine, Minn. / Blaine) scored her first collegiate goal in the Cardinals' 1-0 win at UW-Platteville to open the season on 9/1. Beckman knocked in a header off a free kick just before the 58-minute mark to put the Cardinals on top.
• St. Olaf senior forward Emily Johnson (Vadnais Heights, Minn. / Mounds View) recorded a goal and an assist in each of the Oles' two games last week to help extend their unbeaten start to the season to five games. Johnson scored and assisted in a 3-3 tie at Luther on 9/9, then played a role in both St. Olaf goals in a 2-2 tie at UW-Platteville on 9/12. Johnson has now scored at least one goal in each of the Oles' last four games.
• St. Scholastica sophomore forward Anna Manion (Superior, Wis. / Superior) recorded her first collegiate hat trick in a 4-3, season-opening loss at Viterbo on 9/1. Manion added two more goals and an assist three days later in a 5-0 rout of North Central on 9/4. She has factored into the scoring in 10 of the Saints' 14 goals this season.
