FARMINGTON, Minn. — The first round of league play begins this week for Minnesota Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (MIAC) volleyball teams. Crosstown rivals Carleton and nationally ranked St. Olaf will kick off the conference slate on Wednesday night with a 7:00 p.m. matchup on the Knights' side of Northfield.
Seven more conference contests are on the docket for the rest of the week, along with nine additional non-conference matches.

National Notables
- Carleton senior right side Rachel Bingham (Lake Quivira, Kan. / Shawnee Mission East) ranks eighth in NCAA Division III this season with 504 total attacks on the year. Bingham's 73 total attacks against Chapman on 9/5 are tied for the most in any four-set match in any NCAA division this season. Her 26 kills in the match are tied for the third-most in any four-set Division III match this fall.
- Carleton junior setter Megan Smith (Salem, Ore. / Sprague) ranks ninth in NCAA Division III with an average of 10.02 assists per set this season. Smith is sixth in D-III with 431 total assists this fall.
- Carleton junior libero Madeleine Dimitre (San Francisco, Calif. / San Francisco University) ranks second in D-III with an average of 6.19 digs per set this season. She is sixth in Division III with 260 total digs this season. Dimitre's 35 digs against Pomona-Pitzer on 9/4 are tied for the fourth-most in any four-set Division III match this season.
- Concordia sophomore outside hitter Annie Horan (Moorhead, Minn. / Moorhead) ranks tenth in D-III with an average of 4.96 points per set this season. Her 25 kills against Lakeland on 9/4 are tied for the seventh-most in any NCAA Division III four-set match this fall.
- Hamline sophomore outside hitter Sophia Johnson (Isanti, Minn. / Cambridge-Isanti) recorded 50 total attacks against Ripon on 9/18, tied for the eighth-most in any three-set match in D-III this season.
- Macalester first-year defensive specialist Morgan Stone (Colorado Springs, Colo. / Liberty) posted eight service aces against UW-Superior on 9/12, tied for the fifth-most in any five-set match in Division III this season.
- Saint Benedict sophomore opposite Karley Dunham (Baxter, Minn. / Brainerd) logged eight total blocks against Transylvania on 9/12, tied for the eighth-highest tally in any three-set D-III match this season.
- Saint Mary's senior middle hitter Kali Olson (New York Mills, Minn. / New York Mills) has totaled 205.5 points this fall, the eighth-most in NCAA Division III. Olson also ranks fourth in D-III with 55 total blocks on the year.
- St. Scholastica junior setter Bailey Husbands (Baudette, Minn. / Lake of the Woods) recorded 60 assists against Minnesota Morris on 9/5, tied for the third-most in any five-set match in Division III this season. Her 56 assists against Nebraska Wesleyan on 9/11 are tied for the eighth-highest single-match total in D-III this fall.
Around the MIAC
- Augsburg senior setter Jovial King (Caledonia, Minn. / Caledonia) posted 30-plus assists in all three matches as the Auggies went 2-1 at the UW-Superior Stinger Classic on 9/18-19. King logged a season-best 42 assists to go along with 13 digs in a four-set victory over UW-La Crosse on 9/18 before collecting 32 assists in a 3-1 win over Marian and 35 assists and season-high 19 digs in a four-set loss to the host Yellowjackets on 9/19.
- Bethel junior middle blocker Grace Bathurst (Moorhead, Minn. / Moorhead) hit .377 and accounted for 62.0 points in a 4-1 week for the Royals. Bathurst tallied double-digit kills in three of her five matches, including 17 on 31 swings in a five-set victory over Carleton on 9/18. Bathurst hit north of .400 in three matches and posted a hitting percentage of .600 with 10 kills in a sweep of Bethany Lutheran on 9/19. She also registered 13 total blocks for the week.
- Carleton junior setter Megan Smith (Salem, Ore. / Sprague) totaled 126 assists, 37 digs, eight kills and three aces across three matches to help the Knights go undefeated at the St. Paul Invitational on 9/11-12. The junior recorded assist-dig double-doubles in all three matches, including a career-high 53-assist performance in a five-set win over Minnesota Morris on 9/12.
- Concordia sophomore outside hitter Annie Horan (Moorhead, Minn. / Moorhead) totaled 68 kills to lead the Cobbers to a 3-1 record at the Ripon College Classic on Labor Day weekend. Averaging a MIAC-best 4.53 kills per set for the weekend, Horan posted at least 12 kills in all four matches, including a career-high 25 in the team's season-opening match against Lakeland on 9/4. She also hit north of .300 in three of the four matches.
- Gustavus junior outside hitter Logan Brent (Ramsey, Minn. / Anoka) hit .280 and collected 67 kills in a 2-2 weekend for the Gusties at the Mabel Lee Invite on 9/18-19. Brent hit better than .400 in three of the four matches, beginning with a .444 attack percentage and a 20-kill performance in a five-set win over Cornell on 9/18. She added seven kills in a loss to Hope later that day, before totaling 17 kills in a win over St. Norbert and a season-high 23 kills in a four-set loss to Lakeland on 9/19.
- Hamline first-year setter Hannah Lynch (Duluth, Minn. / Proctor) posted the first two double-doubles of her collegiate career at the Red Hawk Invite on 9/18-19. After collecting 24 assists and 10 digs in a three-set loss to UW-Stout on 9/18, Lynch set career highs with 42 helpers and 13 digs in five sets against Wisconsin Lutheran on 9/19.
- Macalester first-year outside hitter Channing Smith (River Forest, Ill. / Oak Park River Forest) registered 3.91 kills and 3.36 digs per set while hitting .182 in a 2-2 week for the Scots. In a five-set win against Loras on 9/19, Smith racked up 20 kills and 13 digs while hitting .228. Channing also has seven kills apiece in a win over Bethany Lutheran (9/16) and a loss to Wartburg (9/18), along with nine kills in a 3-0 loss to North Central College (9/19).
- Saint Benedict senior outside hitter Kali Jones (Annandale, Minn. / Annandale) recorded 53 kills, nine service aces, 48 digs, eight blocks, and two assists for 66 total points to lead Saint Benedict to a 3-1 showing at the Transylvania Invite on 9/11-12. After opening the weekend with a 12-kill, 10-dig double-double in a four-set loss to Asbury on 9/11, Jones contributed 18 kills and 22.5 points in a five-set win over Elmhurst later in the day. She went on to post nine kills and 12 digs in a sweep of No. 5-ranked Berry on 9/12 before closing the weekend with 14 kills and a career-high five blocks in a sweep of Transylvania.
- St. Catherine junior setter Addison Preuss (Nowthen, Minn. / Elk River) collected All-Tournament Team honors at the UW-Eau Claire Sandy Schumacher Memorial Tournament on 9/11-12. Preuss collected 46 assists across 12 sets. Her 17 assists against Coe on 9/11 pushed her across the 1,000 mark for her collegiate career.
- Saint Mary's senior middle hitter Kali Olson (New York Mills, Minn. / New York Mills) racked up 48 kills and 21 blocks to lead the Cardinals to a 3-1 record at the St. Norbert Chick-fil-A Invitational on 9/11-12. The All-Tournament Team selection averaged 12.04 kills per game and hit .237 over the four matches. She had a season-best eight blocks against Lakeland (9/11) and six blocks against St. Norbert (9/11) and Lawrence (9/12).
- St. Olaf senior libero Michaela Dooley (Plymouth, Minn. / Benilde-St. Margaret's) recorded 68 digs (4.86 per set), 13 assists, and three aces in four matches for the nationally ranked Oles at the Mabel Lee Invite on 9/18-19. Dooley racked up double-digit digs in all four matches, including 25 in a five-set loss to Dubuque on 9/18. She was aced only once in 49 reception attempts.
- St. Scholastica junior setter Bailey Husbands (Baudette, Minn. / Lake of the Woods) was named to the All-Tournament Team at the UW-Superior Stinger Classic after totaling 139 assists across 16 sets. Husbands opened the tournament with back-to-back 40-assist matches, posting 43 helpers in a five-set loss to UW-Superior and 42 assists in a four-set win over Marian on 9/18. She logged 16 assists in a three-set loss to UW-River Falls the following day before finishing the weekend with a 38-assist, nine-dig performance against UW-La Crosse.
