Carleton's Campbell, St. Thomas' Dunne with MIAC Outdoor multi-event titles

NORTHFIELD, Minn. -- Though the 2014 Minnesota Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (MIAC) Outdoor Track and Field Championships don't start in full for another week, the multi-event competitions were held Thursday and Friday at Carleton College in Northfield, Minn. The Knights' Amelia Campbell continued her amazing season by setting a new MIAC record while winning the heptathlon title, and St. Thomas' Maxwell Dunne finished fifth or better in all 10 events to win the decathlon.

Campbell finished with a score of 5,132 thanks to first-place finishes in six of the seven events, and she  won by more than 1,100 points. She beat the old MIAC Championships record of 4,829, set by Concordia's Kaari Jensen in 2012, by more than 300 points. Campbell's score also ranks as the best score in all of NCAA Division III in 2014, and the fifth-best score in D-III history. Her latest MIAC title comes on the heels of her conference and national records and championships in the pentathlon during the indoor season.
