The MIAC adopted the following points system to order the conference standings ahead of the 2022-23 women's hockey season:

• Regulation Win = 3 points
• Overtime Win = 2 points
• Shootout Win = 2 points
• Overtime Loss = 1 point
• Shootout Loss = 1 point

In addition to the revised points system, tiebreakers for seeding the MIAC Women's Hockey Playoffs will be as follows:

1. Head-to-head results among all tied teams
2. Regulation wins
3. Regulation wins + overtime wins
4. Regulation wins + overtime wins + shootout wins
5. Wins versus top four teams in final standings (expanded to include any ties in final standings)
6. Results versus teams in rank order (if teams are tied in standings, they will be compared together)
7. Goal differential in games between or among tied teams only
8. Goal Differential in games versus teams above tied teams in standings
9. Goal Differential in all conference games
10. Random Draw
