JORDAN, Minn. – After 18 holes of play, Gustavus Adolphus College leads the field at the 2019 Minnesota Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (MIAC) Men's Golf Championships with a first-round total of 301 (+13).
Concordia, Saint John's, and St. Thomas are tied for second with each team at 305 (+17), followed by Augsburg in fifth at 306 (+18), and Bethel in sixth with 319 (+31). Carleton and St. Olaf are in a tie for seventh after one round of play at 321 (+33), with Saint Mary's not far behind in ninth at 326 (+38), and Macalester in tenth at 340 (+52).
On the individual leaderboard, the Gusties' Max Ullan and Cobbers' Gage Stromme lead the pack with a one-over-par 73s. A four-way tie for third includes River Goodmanson (Augsburg), Emmet Herb (St. Thomas), David Schneider (Saint John's), and Jacob Pedersen (Gustavus) at 74 (+2).
ROUNDS 2 AND 3 TEE OFF MONDAY
The three-day, 54-hole MIAC Men's Golf Championships will conclude with the final two rounds on Monday at the Ridges at Sand Creek. The shotgun start will begin at 8:00 a.m. There will be no formal break between rounds two and three. Spectators are welcome to attend and there is no admission fee. Those in attendance are encouraged to read and follow the Championship's spectator rules.
There will be a short awards ceremony following Monday's final round to honor the top teams and individuals. The championship team will receive the MIAC championship plaque, as well as the Conference's automatic bid to the 2020 NCAA Division III Golf Championships. The top 10 individual finishers will be named to the All-Championship team and will be automatically eligible for All-Conference honors in the spring.
