A pair of first-half goals propelled the defending MIAC Playoff champion Knights past their crosstown rivals, 2-1, at Bell Field in Northfield on Tuesday afternoon. Carleton midfielder David Rubin got the scoring started with a goal at 13:06 before St. Olaf forward Will Douglas evened things up a 1-1 with a goal of his own 21 minutes later. Just before the 43-minute mark, Carleton's Tarek Bos-Shadi punched in a rebound off the left post to put the Knights on top for good. Carleton outshot St. Olaf 17-7 in the game and held the Oles to just one shot in the second half. The Knights will move on to the semifinal round on Wednesday, where they will face No. 2 seed St. Thomas. The Tommies topped Carleton, 1-0, in the regular season meeting on October 12. The two teams last met in the 2015 MIAC Quarterfinals when St. Thomas pulled off a 1-0 overtime victory. Carleton leads the postseason series 3-1 all-time. Kickoff for Wednesday's semifinal game is set for 11:30 a.m. at South Field in St. Paul.

A 4-2 advantage in penalty kicks after a pair of scoreless overtime periods enabled No. 4 Saint John's to advance to the semifinals for the first time since 2016. Macalester's defense was stellar all afternoon, allowing just one shot on goal through the first four frames. The Johnnies came alive in the shootout, however, drilling four straight to put the game away. Patrick Erredge came away with the deciding penalty kick for Saint John's, which will now move on to face top-seeded Gustavus in the semifinals. The regular season matchup between the Johnnies and Gusties went to double-overtime, where Gustavus pulled out a 3-2 victory. The two teams are an even 2-2 in postseason meetings, with the Gusties having won the most recent matchup, a 2-0 result in the 2014 MIAC Playoff Championship game. Kickoff for Wednesday's semifinal contest is set for 2:00 p.m. in St. Peter.

The Knights and Johnnies advanced to Wednesday's semifinals, where No. 1 Gustavus and No. 2 St. Thomas are waiting. The Gusties will host No. 4 Saint John's, while No. 3 Carleton will travel to No. 2 St. Thomas. The St. Thomas versus Carleton game will begin at 11:30 a.m. with the Gusties set to host the Johnnies at 2:00 p.m.

Wednesday's two semifinal winners will meet on Saturday, November 9, in the 2019 MIAC Men's Soccer Playoff championship game.
