BLOOMINGTON, Minn. -- The defending Minnesota Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (MIAC) women's soccer champions will open the 2019 season ranked among the nation's top-20 teams, as the University of St. Thomas came in at No. 19 in the United Soccer Coaches Preseason Top 25 Coaches Poll, released on Tuesday.
UST finished the 2018 campaign with a 19-2-1 overall record to go along with MIAC regular season and playoff titles, as well as an appearance in the 2018 NCAA Tournament. The Tommies will be tested early in 2019, as the Tommies head to St. Louis, Mo. on September 7 for a matchup with No. 3-ranked Washington University.
The 2019 women's soccer season officially begins with 11 MIAC squads in non-conference action on Friday, August 30. Hamline will host Macalester to open the conference schedule on Monday, September 9, with the rest of the MIAC slate set to begin on Tuesday, September 17.
