BLOOMINGTON, Minn. -- The Minnesota Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (MIAC) announced its Athlete of the Week award winners for basketball, hockey, and tennis on Monday. Student-athletes from Augsburg, Carleton, Gustavus, Macalester, Saint Benedict, St. Olaf, and St. Scholastica claimed the Conference's weekly honors for February 6-12, 2023.
The MIAC Athlete of the Week awards are nominated by the Conference's sports information directors and selected by MIAC staff. Throughout the winter season, team sports (basketball, hockey, and tennis) Athletes of the Week will be recognized on Monday afternoons, with individual sports (swimming & diving and indoor track & field) announced on Tuesday afternoons. The winners of the latest Athlete of the Week awards are listed below, along with details on their outstanding performances.

MIAC Men's Basketball Offensive Player of the Week

Jeremy Beckler helped the Knights clinch their sixth MIAC regular-season title in program history and their first outright crown since 1922-23 last week. Beckler averaged 30.0 points and 5.5 rebounds while shooting .476 overall and .500 (7-of-14) from 3-point range. Beckler started the week with 31 points and five boards as the Knights rallied from 16 points down to defeat Saint John's, 77-72, and secure at least a share of the conference crown on 2/8. Three days later, he tallied 29 points - including a 7-of-11 showing beyond the arc - and six rebounds in a 74-70 win at Macalester to take the MIAC regular season title outright on 2/11.

Badou Ba averaged 12.5 rebounds, 2.0 blocks, and 1.0 steals over two games last week. In an 84-75 overtime win over St. Olaf on 2/8, Ba grabbed 13 boards and blocked three shots while scoring a career-high 17 points. Ba went on to log 12 rebounds, one block, and two steals in a 74-70 loss to Carleton on 2/11.

Peyton Starks averaged 27.0 points while shooting 0.490 from the field and 0.570 from long range in a pair of Scot victories last week. Starks scored a career-high 34 points in a win versus St. Olaf on 2/8 and added 20 points in a win over Carleton on 2/11. She went 4-for-7 on 3-point tries and 10-for-12 at the line for the week.
MIAC Women's Basketball Defensive Player of the Week

Tori Szathmary averaged 6.0 points, 10.5 rebounds, 2.5 assists, 1.5 blocks, and 2.0 steals to help the Bennies clinch a spot in the MIAC Playoffs last week. In a win over Carleton on 2/8, Szathmary had six points and 12 rebounds to go along with two blocks and three steals. In a win over Saint Mary's on 2/11, she turned in nine boards, one block, and one steal.
MIAC Men's Hockey Offensive Player of the Week

Austin Dollimer assisted on six of the Auggies' 11 goals over the weekend, as Augsburg swept Hamline to secure a top-two MIAC regular-season finish. Dollimer tied a career-best with four assists in Augsburg's 7-0 win at Hamline on 2/10, then had two assists in the team's 4-2 home win on 2/11.

Thomas Lalonde made 63 saves while recording a .926 save percentage and 2.45 goals-against average in the Oles' series against Saint John's on 2/10-11. The sophomore made a career-high 40 saves in a 2-2 tie on 2/10 before not allowing a goal in the shootout to help the Oles claim the extra point in the conference standings. Lalonde also had 23 saves in a 3-2 loss on 2/11.

Hailey Holland

Hailey Holland scored six points in the Gusties' two games last week, scoring three in each. Holland posted three helpers in the Gusties' 5-0 win over Concordia on 2/10 and followed the performance up with two goals and an assist in a 9-0 win the next day. With Holland's first goal on 2/11, she netted her 100th career point, becoming just the 14th Gustie to do so. Holland is now tied for 12th in all-time program points, reaching the milestone in just 87 games played.

Katie McCoy posted back-to-back shutouts over the weekend to lead the Gusties to a sweep over Concordia. McCoy made 15 saves through the two games, earning her second and third straight shutouts. McCoy's latest shutouts bring her career total to 27, good for second-most among all active NCAA goalies in either women's or men's hockey.
MIAC Men's Tennis Athlete of the Week
Tate Fuller

Tate Fuller won in both singles and doubles as the Knights topped UW-Eau Claire, 5-4, on 2/11. Fuller teamed with Tarm Rojanasoonthon for an 8-4 triumph at No. 1 doubles, then provided the deciding team point in singles. With the team score tied 4-4, the No. 2 singles match determined the victor. Fuller prevailed by winning a pair of tiebreakers: 7-6 (7-5), 7-6 (7-3).

Julia Maier went undefeated in her combined singles and doubles play on 2/10 versus Macalester. The No. 1 pairing of Maier and teammate Mishell Benitez won 8-7 (10-8) to take the match in tiebreaker fashion. In singles, Maier cruised to a 6-3, 6-2 victory at top singles.
