News & Links 8/18/2026 11:30:00 AM MIAC leads college athletics in Chi Alpha Sigma inductees for second straight year RIVER FALLS, Wis. – The Minnesota Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (MIAC) led all college athletic conferences with a total of 894 student-athletes inducted into Chi Alpha Sigma during the 2025-26 academic year, the National College Athlete Honor Society announced on Tuesday. This is the second consecutive year that the MIAC has finished at the top of the conference leaderboard across all divisions of college athletics. | Chi Alpha Sigma Press Release | A record 19,024 honorees from all divisions of the NCAA, NAIA, NCCAA, and USCAA were welcomed into Chi Alpha Sigma during the last academic year. Branded as "Chi Alpha Sigma" for "College Athlete Society," the National College Athlete Honor Society is a fraternal organization that recognizes college student-athletes who receive a varsity letter in their sport, achieve junior academic standing or higher after their fifth full-time semester, and earn a 3.5 or higher cumulative grade point average. It is the first and only national scholar-athlete society to honor four-year collegiate student-athletes who have excelled in both the classroom and in athletic competition. The MIAC finished atop the conference leaderboard with 894 inductees, finishing just ahead of the Big Ten Conference's total of 888 student-athletes for the second year in a row. The MIAC was one of four conferences with more than 800 inductees this year. Gustavus Adolphus College also led NCAA Division III for the second straight season with 167 inductees in 2025-26. The Gusties ranked third in total inductees across all of college athletics behind only The Ohio State University (230) and the United States Naval Academy (204). Since 2019, more than 4,000 MIAC student-athletes have been inducted into the National College Athlete Honor Society. Augsburg University was the first MIAC institution accepted into Chi Alpha Sigma and inducted an inaugural class of 100 Auggies who met the athletic and academic qualifications of the honor society during the 2019-20 academic year. St. Catherine University and The College of St. Scholastica joined Chi Alpha Sigma the following year, with the College of Saint Benedict and St. Olaf College being admitted in 2021-22, and Carleton College coming on board in 2022-23. In 2024, the MIAC became just the fifth conference in all of college athletics at the time to have its entire membership welcomed into the National College Athlete Honor Society.
