MIAC Athletes of the Week - September 22, 2026

FARMINGTON, Minn. -- The Minnesota Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (MIAC) announced its Athlete of the Week award winners for golf and cross country on Tuesday. Student-athletes from Bethel, Gustavus, Saint John's, and Macalester claimed the Conference's weekly honors.
 
The MIAC Athlete of the Week awards are nominated by the Conference's sports information directors and selected by MIAC staff. Throughout the fall season, team sports (football, soccer, and volleyball) Athletes of the Week will be recognized on Monday afternoons, with individual sports (cross country and golf) announced on Tuesday afternoons. The winners of the latest Athlete of the Week awards are listed below, along with details on their outstanding performances.

MIAC Men's Cross Country Athlete of the Week

Cole Stencel powered through the rain to win the 111-runner men's 8K at the Toni St. Pierre Invitational on 9/18. Stencel finished the River Oaks course in 25:35.9, earning an 18-second margin of victory and the fastest 8K time in the MIAC this season. Saint John's placed third as a team at the event.
 
MIAC Women's Cross Country Athlete of the Week

Ingrid Norquist won the women's 6K race at the Toni St. Pierre Invitational on 9/18, covering the River Oaks course in 21:58.7 to win by nearly 19 seconds in the 119-runner race. The performance is the second victory in as many races this season for Norquist, who finished first at the Ole Opener on 9/4. The victory helped the Scots take second in the eight-team field. 

MIAC Men's Golf Athlete of the Week

Sander Ohe finished the Minnesota Golf Classic on 9/20-21 with a three-round score of 214 (71-72-71, -2) to tie for third among NCAA Division III competitors and 15th overall in the 108-player tournament. Ohe's 54-hole score at the Pioneer Creek Golf Course in Maple Plain is tied for the 25th-best individual total in recorded MIAC history, while the Royals' team total of 862 won the tournament and ranks fourth-lowest all-time for a MIAC squad in a 54-hole event.

William Andrus carded a three-round total of 214 (74-69-71, -2) to tie for third among NCAA Division III competitors and 15th overall in the 108-player Minnesota Golf Classic on 9-/20-21. Andrus' tally of 69 in round two is tied for the lowest single-round score by a MIAC men's golfer this season, while his 54-hole score of 214 is tied for the 25th-best 54-hole score in recorded MIAC history. Andrus had 13 birdies over three rounds at the Pioneer Creek Golf Course, tied for the fourth-most in the field.
 
MIAC Women's Golf Athlete of the Week

Addison Longie shot even par 144 (73-71, E) to place second overall at the 36-hole St. Kate's Fall Invite at Eagle Valley Golf Course in Woodbury on 9/19-20. Longie had nine birdies over 36 holes, tied for the most in the 77-player field. Her two-round score is tied for the 18th-lowest in recorded MIAC women's golf history and broke the previous program record, set in 2005, by two strokes.
