News & Links 9/8/2026 1:00:00 PM MIAC Athletes of the Week - September 8, 2026 FARMINGTON, Minn. -- The Minnesota Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (MIAC) announced its Athlete of the Week award winners for football, volleyball, soccer, golf, and cross country on Tuesday. Student-athletes from Carleton, Concordia, Macalester, Saint Benedict, St. Catherine, Saint John's, and St. Olaf claimed the Conference's weekly honors. The MIAC Athlete of the Week awards are nominated by the Conference's sports information directors and selected by MIAC staff. Throughout the fall season, team sports (football, soccer, and volleyball) Athletes of the Week will be recognized on Monday afternoons, with individual sports (cross country and golf) announced on Tuesday afternoons. The winners of the latest Athlete of the Week awards are listed below, along with details on their outstanding performances. MIAC Football Offensive Player of the Week Trey Feeney Saint John's University Sr. | Quarterback Moorhead, Minn. / Moorhead Trey Feeney completed 36-of-51 passes for 386 yards and three touchdowns in the Johnnies' 24-21 victory over nationally-ranked UW-La Crosse on 9/5. His 36 completions were the third-most by an SJU quarterback, while his 51 attempts are tied for seventh-most in a single game in program history. UW-La Crosse allowed more than 300 yards passing in only one game last season, giving up 307 yards through the air to eventual national champion UW-River Falls in November 2025. Feeney's 386 passing yards are the most by a Saint John's passer in a season-opener since 1990. MIAC Football Defensive Player of the Week Jason Weaver Macalester College Sr. | Linebacker Roselle Park, N.J. / Pingry Jason Weaver led the Scots with 13 tackles - all solo - two tackles for loss, a strip-sack, and a fumble recovery in a 34-21 win over Martin Luther on 9/5. Weaver's strip-sack in the first quarter gave Macalester the ball on the Knights' 11-yard line, setting up a go-ahead touchdown run that would give the Scots the lead for good. Weaver's 13 solo tackles in the win tied the 42-year-old program record, originally set in 1984. MIAC Football Special Teams Player of the Week Mitchell Druley Concordia College Sr. | Kicker/Punter Norwood Young America, Minn. / Central Mitchell Druley punted five times in the Cobbers' 28-0 road win over Nebraska Wesleyan on 9/5, pinning the Prairie Wolves inside their own 20-yard line three times and inside the five once. Druley averaged 44.2 yards per punt and had a pair of 52-yard boots. Druley also recorded touchbacks on three of his five kickoffs and landed NWU on its own nine-yard line on a third-quarter kickoff. He went 4-for-4 on PAT tries in the game. MIAC Volleyball Offensive Player of the Week Annie Horan Concordia College So. | Outside Hitter Moorhead, Minn. / Moorhead Annie Horan totaled 68 kills to lead the Cobbers to a 3-1 record at the Ripon College Classic on Labor Day weekend. Averaging a MIAC-best 4.53 kills per set for the weekend, Horan posted at least 12 kills in all four matches, including a career-high 25 in the team's season-opening match against Lakeland on 9/4. She also hit north of .300 in three of the four matches. MIAC Volleyball Specialty Player of the Week Madeleine Dimitre Carleton College Jr. | Libero San Francisco, Calif. / San Francisco University Madeleine Dimitre tallied 115 digs to help the Knights go 2-2 on opening weekend with victories over Western New England (9/4) and Chapman (9/5). After recording 35 digs and five assists against Pomona-Pitzer on 09/4, and 21 digs, three service aces, and a trio of assists during the win over WNE, Dimitre posted 28 digs and six assists in a four-set win over Chapman and capped off the weekend with 31 digs and five assists against Occidental. Dimitre's tournament performance ranked second in all of NCAA Division III for digs per set (8.21) and fourth for total digs (115). MIAC Men's Soccer Offensive Player of the Week Grady Monette Saint John's University Fy. | Forward Andover, Minn. / Andover Grady Monette led the Johnnies with eight points on three goals and two assists in four straight shutout wins to start the season. Monette scored his first two collegiate goals in a 7-0 road win at Minnesota Morris on 9/4. He scored again in a win at Crown the following day before being credited with two assists in an 8-0 home victory over Coe on 9/6. Saint John's has scored a program-record 22 goals over the team's first four games this season, and the Johnnies have outshot competitors 100-to-11 in those contests while boasting a 56-to-8 differential in shots-on-goal. MIAC Men's Soccer Defensive Player of the Week Beckett Carlson St. Olaf College Jr. | Goalkeeper Maple Grove, Minn. / Maple Grove Beckett Carlson went 3-0-0 with a pair of shutouts and a 0.33 goals-against average in the nationally ranked Oles' three-win week to start the season. The junior totaled seven saves in back-to-back shutouts of nationally ranked UChicago and Edgewood - both 2025 NCAA Tournament participants - in 1-0 wins on 9/4 and 9/6. MIAC Women's Soccer Offensive Player of the Week Emily Johnson St. Olaf College Sr. | Forward Vadnais Heights, Minn. / Mounds View Emily Johnson scored five goals in a 2-0-1 week for the Oles. After finding the back of the net twice in a 3-0 road win at UW-Superior on 9/4, Johnson registered her first hat trick of the season in St. Olaf's 5-2 win over Dubuque on 9/6. Johnson now ranks third in program history for both career goals (34) and points (77). MIAC Women's Soccer Defensive Player of the Week Anna Mollenhauer College of Saint Benedict So. | Goalkeeper Owatonna, Minn. / Owatonna Anna Mollenhauer helped the Bennies to a 3-0 opening week, marking the program's best start since the 2017 campaign. Mollenhauer spent 90 minutes in goal and collected seven saves in each of her two appearances. The sophomore appeared in the back end of the season-opening 3-1 win against UW-Eau Claire, picking up seven saves with one goal allowed, before earning the start and her first collegiate win in a seven-save shutout at Central on 9/6. MIAC Men's Cross Country Athlete of the Week Cole Stencel Saint John's University Sr. Mapleton, Minn. / Maple River Cole Stencel outpaced all Division II and III runners at the Augustana Twilight on 9/4, finishing eighth overall out of 478 competitors with a 5K time of 14:56.1. Stencel's time topped his previous personal best by 38 seconds. It was the sixth top-10 performance of his collegiate cross country career. MIAC Women's Cross Country Athlete of the Week Ingrid Norquist Macalester College Sr. Minneapolis, Minn. / Anoka Ingrid Norquist was the first runner across the finish line at the Ole Opener on 9/4. Norquist covered the 5K course in 18:34.7, finishing with a 30-second margin of victory over the rest of the field. It was the sixth top-10 finish of her collegiate career and her first individual win. MIAC Men's Golf Athlete of the Week Ryan Engel Concordia College Sr. Ada, Minn. / Ada-Borup-West Ryan Engel led all MIAC golfers at the season-opening Augsburg Fall Invitational on 9/5-6 with a two-round score of 144 (E). After carding a 3-under-par 69 at Majestic Oaks in Ham Lake to open the tournament, Engel turned in a second-round score of 75 to place third overall for the weekend. MIAC Women's Golf Athlete of the Week Caylin Cantwell St. Catherine University Jr. Blaine, Minn. / Totino Grace Caylin Cantwell earned medalist honors at the St. Kate's Fall Opener on 9/4-5 with a two-round score of 145 (+1). Cantwell shot a 2-over-par 74 in the opening round at Bunker Hills Golf Club in Coon Rapids before carding a 1-under 71 in round two to claim a four-shot margin of victory on the individual leaderboard.
