ARDEN HILLS, Minn. – The Saint John's University men's outdoor track and field team clinched its 14th Minnesota Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (MIAC) championship - and second in a row - on Saturday afternoon on the campus of Bethel University. The Johnnies totaled 216 points to win the conference crown.
St. Olaf placed second with 176 points, followed by Bethel in third with 133.5 points. Macalester (69), Carleton (64), and St. Scholastica (62) all finished within seven points of each other, while less than two points separated Concordia (41.5) and Gustavus (40). Hamline (31), Saint Mary's (14), and Augsburg (11) rounded out the team standings.

Sprinters stood out on Saturday, as Bethel junior Jacob Parent sped to a MIAC meet record time of 46.76 in the 400-meter dash, and Saint John's junior Kevin Arthur set new meet marks in the 100-meter dash (10.46) and 200-meter dash (21.20). Bethel's Joel Smith also took down his own meet record in the 400 hurdles with a time of 52.01. Not to be outdone in the field, Saint John's junior Brett Hague broke the conference record in the javelin throw with a heave of 64.14m (210' 5").
