BLOOMINGTON, Minn. -- The Minnesota Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (MIAC) announced its Athlete of the Week award winners for outdoor track & field on Tuesday. Student-athletes from Gustavus, St. Catherine, Saint John's, and St. Olaf claimed the Conference's weekly honors.
The MIAC Athlete of the Week awards are nominated by the Conference's sports information directors and selected by MIAC staff. Throughout the spring season, team sports (baseball, softball, and tennis) Athletes of the Week will be recognized on Monday afternoons, with individual sports (outdoor track & field and golf) announced on Tuesday afternoons. The winners of the latest Athlete of the Week awards are listed below, along with details on their outstanding performances.

Logan Bocovich ran a top-20 time in NCAA Division III history in the 5,000-meter run at the Joe Sweeney Invitational on 5/3, winning the event in 14:01.17. The time ranks No. 19 on the USTFCCCA's all-time performers list, while also ranking seventh in the country this season and bettering Bocovich's previous school record by more than 13 seconds.

Brett Hague broke SJU's program record in the javelin with a personal-best distance of 68.10 meters (223' 5") on his first throw of the night at the Joe Sweeney Invitational on 5/3. The mark is good for third-best in NCAA Division III this spring. SJU's previous record was 67.80 meters set in 2003. Hague's mark is also the best in the MIAC since at least 1986.

Birgen Nelson shattered the NCAA Division III 100-hurdles record in the preliminary round of the Maverick Open on 5/3 with an all-conditions time of 13.32. Nelson clocked a 13.62 in the finals to win the event. Nelson also set new facility and meet records in the 400-hurdles with a time of 1:00.19. That time ranks first in the MIAC and second in Division III this season.

Bryana Leverentz claimed top honors in the javelin throw at the Ole Open on 5/6 with a mark of 43.33 meters (142' 2"), putting her in seventh overall on the Division III performance list. Leverentz holds the top mark in the MIAC and is now third all-time for the Wildcats.
