2024-25 MIAC Men’s Basketball Season Preview

BLOOMINGTON, Minn. – The 2024-25 men’s basketball season has arrived for Minnesota Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (MIAC) teams.
 
The regular season is set to tip off on Friday, November 8, and will run through Saturday, February 22. The first conference games of the season are scheduled for Wednesday, December 4. Teams are set to play 16 conference games this season, with one game against every conference opponent and two games against six league foes. Men’s teams will play before women’s teams on doubleheader game dates for the first half of the season before the genders flip start times at the end of January.
 
The top six teams at the end of the regular season will head to the 2025 MIAC Men’s Basketball Playoffs. The quarterfinal round is scheduled for Tuesday, February 25, with the semifinals set for Thursday, February 27, and the championship game slated for Saturday, March 1. The winner of the MIAC Playoffs will receive the conference's automatic bid to the 2025 NCAA Division III Men’s Basketball Tournament.

RULE CHANGES
The NCAA Men’s Basketball Rules Committee and NCAA Playing Rules Oversight Panel approved a pair of rule changes in effect for the 2024-25 season. The committees confirmed the addition of a one-game suspension for physical contact with an official that results in ejection from the game. Instant replay rules were also adjusted to allow for additional opportunities to review last-second shots. Video review will be used for all rounds of the 2025 NCAA Basketball Tournaments.

MIAC SPORTS NETWORK
The MIAC Sports Network powered by Hudl launched in August 2023 and will be back again as the streaming home of all MIAC-hosted games, events, and championships. The MIAC Sports Network is available on the web (https://miacsportsnetwork.com/) along with streaming apps for television and mobile devices, including Android TV, Apple TV, Amazon Fire, Roku (TV), iOS, Android (mobile), and Amazon Fire Tablet. The app can be found and installed free of charge by searching for the MIAC Sports Network.

MIAC APP
The MIAC mobile app remains free to fans and can be downloaded on both the Apple App Store and the Google Play Store for Android devices. The app includes news, standings, and links to follow scores and stats in real time.

AWARD WATCH
MIAC coaches will vote on the 2024-25 MIAC Men’s Basketball All-Conference honors at the conclusion of the regular season. In addition to a 16-player All-MIAC squad, coaches will also vote on individual awards for the MIAC Offensive, Defensive, Rookie, and Coach of the Year.
 
Throughout the regular season, the MIAC will recognize top individual performances with the MIAC Men’s Basketball Offensive and Defensive Players of the Week awards. Athlete of the Week awards will begin on Monday, November 11, and be announced each Monday following through the end of the regular season. During the week following the MIAC Playoffs, participating coaches will also select a five-player All-Playoff Team to recognize outstanding performances throughout the conference tournament.
