St. Kate's, Saint Mary's advance to MIAC Women's Soccer Playoff Championship

BLOOMINGTON, Minn. – The 2024 Minnesota Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (MIAC) Women's Soccer Playoffs continued on Thursday with a pair of semifinal matchups.

Top-seeded St. Catherine defeated No. 4 St. Olaf, 3-1, while No. 3 Saint Mary's upset No. 2 Carleton, 1-0.

St. Catherine will now host Saint Mary's in the 2024 MIAC Women's Soccer Playoff Championship at 1:00 p.m. on Saturday afternoon in St. Paul.

A pair of second-half goals from Kallan Tuominen put the Wildcats back in the playoff championship game for the fourth straight season as St. Kate's topped St. Olaf, 3-1, on Thursday afternoon. Ari Green got SCU on the board first with a goal in the ninth minute before St. Olaf's Emily Johnson evened things up eight minutes later. Tuominen broke the tie 52 minutes later with the first of her two goals to punch the Wildcats' tickets to the title game.

St. Catherine is now championship-bound for the fifth time in program history and the fourth consecutive season. The Wildcats are 4-0 in playoff title games, with championship victories in 2017, 2021, 2022, and 2023.

The Saint Mary's women's soccer team is heading to the MIAC Playoff Championship for the first time in program history after upsetting No. 2 seed Carleton, 1-0, on Thursday afternoon. Hannah Bradley's loose-ball goal in the 64th minute made history for the Cardinals and proved to be the only scoring in the semifinal contest. Anna Peckosh stopped all five shots she saw in-goal for SMU, while Avery Trapp had four saves and the lone goal allowed for the Knights.

This will be the Cardinals' first-ever trip to the MIAC Playoff Championship.


CHAMPIONSHIP SET FOR SATURDAY
No. 1 St. Catherine will now host No. 3 Saint Mary's on Saturday, November 9, in the 2024 MIAC Women's Soccer Playoff Championship game. It will be the first-ever postseason meeting between the two programs. St. Kate's claimed a 1-0 regular-season victory over Saint Mary's back in September.

The 2024 championship game is tentatively scheduled for 1:00 p.m. on the Wildcats' home turf in St. Paul. The MIAC Playoff champion will receive the postseason championship plaque and the conference's automatic bid to the 2024 NCAA Division III Women's Soccer Tournament.

All tickets for the 2024 MIAC Playoffs will be sold and purchased online via HomeTown TicketingThere will not be cash sales at any venue; however, spectators can purchase tickets using a mobile device, including while at the venue. Tickets are available for purchase immediately. General admission adult tickets are $12 (plus HTT service charge). Student (with ID) tickets are $3 (plus HTT service charge), and children ages five and under are admitted free.
