MIAC Athletes of the Week - April 9, 2024

BLOOMINGTON, Minn. -- The Minnesota Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (MIAC) announced its Athlete of the Week award winners for outdoor track & field and golf Tuesday. Student-athletes from Bethel, Macalester, Saint John's, and St. Scholastica claimed the Conference's weekly honors.

The MIAC Athlete of the Week awards are nominated by the Conference's sports information directors and selected by MIAC staff. Throughout the spring season, team sports (baseball, softball, and tennis) Athletes of the Week will be recognized on Monday afternoons, with individual sports (golf and indoor track & field) announced on Tuesday afternoons. The winners of the latest Athlete of the Week awards are listed below, along with details on their outstanding performances.

MIAC Men's Outdoor Track Athlete of the Week
Jacob Parent
Bethel University

New Richmond, Wis.

Jacob Parent won the 400-meter dash with a personal-best time of 46.71 at the Hamline Invitational on 4/6. That time leads all of NCAA Division III this season. Parent also ran on the Royals' 4x400-meter relay team that won in 3:15.04. The 4x4 time ranks fourth in D-III this year.

Trent Beseth
The College of St. Scholastica

Stanchfield, Minn. | Cambridge-Isanti

Trent Beseth won both the shot put and discus events at the Hamline Invitational on 4/6. Beseth's winning toss in the discus throw flew 48.87 meters (160' 4") and ranks 16th in NCAA Division III this season. Beseth's shot put distance of 15.52 meters (50' 11") ranks 33rd in the nation.


MIAC Women's Outdoor Track Athlete of the Week
Kelsie Sealock
Bethel University

Kelsie Sealock set a program record in her first-ever 400-meter hurdle race at the Hamline Invitational on 4/6. Sealock won in 1:02.66, breaking the previous Bethel record set in 1987. The time ranks fifth in NCAA Division III this season. Sealock also won the 100-meter hurdles with a season-best time of 13.93, which ranks second in D-III this year.

Lily Beneke
The College of St. Scholastica

Lily Beneke placed third overall in the hammer throw at the Hamline Invitational on 4/6. Beneke's first throw of the day was her best, traveling 50.72 meters (166' 5"). Beneke finished behind only two NCAA Division I throwers at the meet. Her mark ranks 19th in D-III this season.


MIAC Men's Golf Athlete of the Week
Nate Loxtercamp
Saint John's University

Richmond, Minn. | Melrose Area

Nate Loxtercamp earned medalist honors out of 214 golfers as the Johnnies tied for fourth out of 37 teams at the Illinois Wesleyan Invitational on 4/5-6. Loxtercamp carded five birdies for a 3-under par 68 – his team-leading seventh round at par or under this season – during the final round to take first place by one shot with a two-round total of 140 (-3). Loxtercamp led the tournament with a -6 on the seven par-5 holes over the two days. The win was the first of the season and third career for Loxtercamp, who leads SJU with a 72.7 average in 18 rounds this season.

Bailey Lengfelder

Bailey Lengfelder led the Scots at the WashU Spring Invitational with a second-place finish as an individual on 4/6-7. Lengfelder's two-round score of 147 (74-73) broke her own program record for a 36-hole tournament. Her previous two-round low was a 148, set at the St. Kate's Invitational last fall.
