Gustavus announces 2024 Athletics Hall of Fame Class

SAINT PETER, Minn. - The Gustavus Adolphus College Department of Athletics has chosen eight individuals for induction into its Athletics Hall of Fame. The 2024 inductees include Chad Arlt '09 (football), Lisa Brown '09 (track & field), Rachael Click '09 (softball), John Kauss '09 (tennis), Emily Klein '09 (softball and volleyball), Bri Monahan '07 (basketball), Matt Stewart '09 (swimming), and Trevor Wittwer '08 (basketball). Andy Bryan '08 (tennis), who was selected to the Hall of Fame Class of 2023, will also be recognized with this group.
 
Arlt, a St. Michael, Minn. native, is one of the greatest wide receivers in program history, who still holds Gustavus records for career receptions (222), single game receiving yards (252), and longest reception (99 yards), which he accomplished twice. Arlt was All-Region in 2006 and was a two-time All-Conference performer. His 3,180 career receiving yards rank second in program history.
 
Brown, a Lake Crystal, Minn. native, was a three-time NCAA champion in the javelin and four-time All-American in the event. Brown, the 2007-08 Gustavus Female Athlete of the Year, was a five-time MIAC champion and still holds the program record in the javelin (174-5). Brown also qualified for the US Olympic Trials in 2008.
 
Bryan, an Edina, Minn. native, was a four-time All-American and the 2007-08 Gustavus Male Athlete of the Year. Bryan and doubles partner Charlie Paukert finished second at the 2008 NCAA Doubles Championships. He won 190 combined singles and doubles matches throughout his career and received the prestigious NCAA Postgraduate Scholarship.
 
Click, a Rochester, Minn. native, is one of the most successful players in program history with 10 school records, highlighted by 35 career home runs (3rd/MIAC history), 179 career RBIs, and an .825 career slugging percentage. Click, the 2008-09 Gustavus Female Athlete of the Year, earned All-America in 2009, was a three-time CSC Academic All-American, and the 2009 MIAC Player of the Year.
 
Kauss, a St. Paul, Minn. native, won the 2008 ITA Division III singles national championship and was the national runner up in doubles the same season. He earned NCAA All-America honors in both singles and doubles his senior year, was a part of the 2008 ITA Indoor National Championship team, and finished his career with 161 combined victories in singles and doubles without dropping a conference match (35-0).
 
Klein, a Red Wing, Minn. native, was a two-sport standout for the softball and volleyball teams. In softball, Klein was a two-time All-Conference performer and still holds the program record for career stolen bases (81-for-86). In volleyball, Klein was a three-time MIAC Defensive Player of the Year and an All-Region selection in 2008. She still holds program records for career digs (2,329), single season digs (664), and digs in a match (48).
 
Monahan, a Hutchinson, Minn. native, was a three-time All-Conference performer and ranks third in program history with 1,466 career points. She also ranks third in career free throws made (293), fourth in career field goals made (556), and eighth in both career rebounds (635) and career steals (196).
 
Stewart, a Burnsville, Minn. native, is arguably the greatest swimmer in program history with 13 All-America honors. Stewart, the 2008-09 Gustavus Male Athlete of the Year, owns the program record with 121 career points at the NCAA Championships. He was a 13-time MIAC champion, garnered 23 All-Conference honors, and still holds the school and MIAC record in the 500 freestyle (4:26.78).
 
Wittwer, a Redwood Falls, Minn. native, was a finalist for the 2008 Josten's Division III Player of the Year award. He earned two All-Conference awards, CSC Academic All-America in 2007-08, and was the 2005-06 MIAC Sixth Man of the Year. Wittwer ranks third in program history in both career field goal percentage (59.2) and career three-point percentage (45.5), while his 128 career steals rank fourth.
 
This group will be honored at the Athletics Hall of Fame Banquet, which will be held in Cec Eckhoff Alumni Hall on Saturday, Nov. 2 following the football game against St. Olaf College at 1 p.m. Individuals eligible for induction into the Gustavus Athletics Hall of Fame are athletes, coaches, and benefactors. Selection of athletes is based on athletic achievements while a student at Gustavus, while a benefactor is selected for extraordinary contribution to the Athletic Department through service or philanthropy. All eight members of the Gustavus Athletics Hall of Fame Class of 2024 will be inducted for their accomplishments as student-athletes.
 
The selection of the inductees to the Gustavus Hall of Fame is made by the Gustavus Hall of Fame Board, which is an 11-member group consisting of current athletic administrators, former coaches, and alumni.
