Record-breaking Knights roll to 2025 MIAC Women's Golf Championship

EDINA, Minn. – Carleton College won the fifth Minnesota Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (MIAC) women's golf title in program history on Monday. The Knights led the three-day, 54-hole conference tournament from start to finish, wrapping up the 2025 MIAC Women's Golf Championships with a tournament record 886 (+22) across three rounds of play at Braemar Golf Course in Edina.

The team score surpasses the previous MIAC Championship record of 904, set by Carleton's 2018 MIAC Championship squad and matched by St. Catherine's 2024 title team. The Knights also set new MIAC Championship records for 18 holes (292) and 36 holes (298) over the weekend. With the victory, Carleton secured the MIAC's automatic qualifier to the 2026 NCAA Division III Women's Golf Championships on May 19-22, 2026, at Desert Willow Golf Resort in Palm Desert, California.

Macalester placed second in the team standings - the Scots' best MIAC Championship finish in program history - with a +54 showing for the 54-hole tournament, while St. Catherine took third at +92. Gustavus and Saint Benedict tied for fourth place at +98, followed by Bethel (+111), St. Olaf (+137), Concordia (+191), St. Scholastica (+337), and Augsburg (+532).

The ten lowest individual scorers over the three-day tournament were named to the All-Championship Team. Carleton senior Carter Sichol cemented her status as the most accomplished statistical performer in MIAC Women's Golf Championship history to date, earning medalist honors for the second time in her four-year career, along with a top-four finish for the fourth consecutive season. Sichol set new MIAC Women's Golf Championship records for 18-hole score (69), 36-hole score (138), and 54-hole score (211).

Joining Sichol on the All-Championship Team were Macalester's Bailey Lengfelder (+2), Carleton's Mindy Zhai (+8), Macalester's Ava Austria (+9), Carleton's Kate Yi (+9), St. Catherine's Caylin Cantwell (+15), Carleton's Cynthia Lu (+17), Carleton's Sarah Zheng (+18), Macalester's Yangyang Gu (+19), St. Catherine's Raquel Ahrens (+19), and Saint Benedict's Catherine Jance (+19).

Carleton's Carter Sichol and Sarah Zheng, and Macalester's Bailey Lengfelder are now among just 12 competitors in recorded conference history to finish among the top 10 at four consecutive MIAC Women's Golf Championships. Those three, along with Carleton's Cynthia Lu, will also add their fourth All-MIAC distinction in the spring, a feat earned by just 27 women's golfers in recorded conference history.

In addition to the individual awards, St. Olaf's Anneliese Carlson concluded the 2025 conference tournament in memorable fashion by recording a hole-in-one on Hole 13 (par-3, 151 yards) on Monday. It is the third hole-in-one in recorded MIAC Women's Golf Championship history, and the first since St. Thomas' Claudia Kim carded one from 138 yards on the sixth hole at Pebble Creek during the first round of the 2019 MIAC Women's Golf Championships.
