News & Links 11/17/2025 1:00:00 PM MIAC Athletes of the Week - November 17, 2025 BLOOMINGTON, Minn. -- The Minnesota Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (MIAC) announced its Athlete of the Week award winners for football, basketball, and hockey on Monday. Student-athletes from Augsburg, Bethel, Carleton, Concordia, Gustavus, Macalester, St. Catherine, and St. Olaf claimed the Conference's weekly honors. The MIAC Athlete of the Week awards are nominated by the Conference's sports information directors and selected by MIAC staff. Throughout the winter season, team sports (basketball and hockey) Athletes of the Week will be recognized on Monday afternoons, with individual sports (swimming & diving) announced on Tuesday afternoons. The winners of the latest Athlete of the Week awards are listed below, along with details on their outstanding performances. MIAC Football Offensive Player of the Week Mason Hughes Concordia College So. | Running Back Glendale, Ariz. / Pinnacle Mason Hughes had a career-high 230 rushing yards and two touchdowns in the Cobbers' 31-24 win at Carleton on 11/15. His rushing total is the second-highest in program history and the second most by any player in the MIAC this season. His 230 rushing yards helped Hughes take the MIAC rushing title in both overall and conference games. MIAC Football Defensive Player of the Week Eric Lyons Jr. Gustavus Adolphus College Sr. | Cornerback Fort Lauderdale, Fla. / Plantation Eric Lyons Jr. scored the final touchdown of the Gusties' season with a 100-yard pick-six in a 38-14 win over Macalester on 11/15. Lyons was three yards deep in the end zone when he intercepted a Macalester pass and ran it back the length of the field with just over five minutes to play in the game. It was his first interception of the season and his second takeaway in as many weeks. Lyons added three pass breakups in the win. MIAC Football Special Teams Player of the Week Devin Williams Bethel University Sr. | Safety Fridley, Minn. / Fridley Devin Williams returned a punt 75 yards for a touchdown in the Royals' victory over St. Scholastica on 11/15 to clinch the outright MIAC championship. Williams broke through an arm tackle and made multiple defenders miss on his way down the left sideline and into the end zone for the Royals' first punt return touchdown of the season. Williams finished the game with 135 yards on four punt returns. MIAC Men's Basketball Offensive Player of the Week Noah Shannon Macalester College Sr. | Forward Northfield, Ill. / New Trier Noah Shannon posted a pair of 30-point games to lead the Scots to non-conference victories over UW-Stout and Grinnell. Shannon made 12-of-22 shots from the floor and went 11-for-15 at the free-throw line to total 35 points in an 82-76 win over UW-Stout on 11/12. Three days later, Shannon scored 32 while hitting 7 of his 11 shots from the field and going 18-for-21 at the foul line. Shannon added 21 boards, nine assists, and four steals for the week. MIAC Men's Basketball Defensive Player of the Week Jacob Cook Concordia College Sr. | Forward Ashby, Minn. / Ashby Jacob Cook posted 16 rebounds in the Cobbers' season-opening victories against Minnesota Morris and UW-River Falls. Cook added a steal and a block against the Cougars on 11/12 and rejected another shot against the Falcons on 11/15. He also averaged 27.0 points on the offensive end of the court, including a career-high 32 points against UWRF. MIAC Women's Basketball Offensive Player of the Week Addy Huss Carleton College So. | Guard Portland, Ore. / Cleveland Addy Huss notched two double-doubles as she averaged 19.0 points, 11.5 rebounds, 6.0 assists, 2.0 steals, and 1.5 blocks in leading the Knights to a pair of victories last week. Huss began the week with 16 points, 11 rebounds, seven assists, and two steals to lead Carleton to an 83-74 win over North Central on 11/12. Huss followed that up by tallying 15 of her game-high 22 points in the second half of Carleton's 61-51 victory over Northwestern on 11/15. She stuffed the stat sheet by adding 12 rebounds, five assists, three blocks, and two steals in the win. MIAC Women's Basketball Defensive Player of the Week Elise Hahn St. Olaf College So. | Forward Mackinaw, Ill. / Deer Creek-Mackinaw Elise Hahn averaged 16.0 rebounds, 3.0 steals, and 2.0 blocks to help the Oles open the season with a pair of non-conference victories. Hahn pulled down 17 rebounds, blocked three shots, and added three steals in a 56-47 road win at Crown on 11/11 before collecting 15 boards, three more steals, and another block in a one-point win at home against Buena Vista on 11/15. MIAC Men's Hockey Offensive Player of the Week Peyton Hanson Augsburg University Sr. | Forward Hudson, Wis. / Hudson Peyton Hanson claimed his first collegiate hat trick in the Auggies' 4-2 win over Beloit on 11/12. Hanson scored the opening goal of the game at 16:02 in the first, and tallied a short-handed goal eight minutes into the second. Hanson's game-winning goal at 12:44 in the second earned him the hat trick. He also contributed the assist on a power-play insurance goal midway through the third period for a four-point night. MIAC Men's Hockey Defensive Player of the Week Ryan Nolan St. Olaf College Fy. | Goaltender Hampton, N.H. Ryan Nolan totaled 82 saves in the Oles' sweep of defending conference champion Gustavus on 11/14-15. Nolan made 48 stops - tied for the seventh-most saves in any NCAA Division III game this season - in a 5-2 win over Gustavus on 11/14 before adding 34 saves in a 2-1 victory over the Gusties the following day. MIAC Women's Hockey Offensive Player of the Week Solvei Berg-Messerole St. Olaf College Sr. | Forward Minneapolis, Minn. / Highland Park Solvei Berg-Meserole scored the game-winning goal in overtime to lead the Oles to a 3-2 victory against nationally-ranked Gustavus on 11/14. The goal snapped St. Olaf's 25-game winless streak versus the Gusties, dating back to February 2012. Berg-Messerole played a role in all three of the team's goals in the game, scoring two goals herself and assisting on a third. She also assisted on the Oles' lone goal in a 2-1 loss the following day on the Gusties' home ice. MIAC Women's Hockey Defensive Player of the Week Lea Grassia St. Catherine University Jr. | Goaltender West Deptford, N.J. / Vermont Academy Lea Grassia made 28 saves in the Wildcats' 2-0 victory against Bethel on 11/14. Grassia earned the first shutout of her collegiate career by shutting down a Royals offense that entered the game averaging 6.5 goals per game. Eleven of Grassia's 28 saves came in the third period.
