Men's Swimming & Diving 11/25/2025 1:00:00 PM MIAC Athletes of the Week - November 25, 2025 BLOOMINGTON, Minn. -- The Minnesota Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (MIAC) announced its Athlete of the Week award winners for swimming & diving on Tuesday. Student-athletes from Gustavus claimed the Conference's weekly honors. The MIAC Athlete of the Week awards are nominated by the Conference's sports information directors and selected by MIAC staff. Throughout the winter season, team sports (basketball and hockey) Athletes of the Week will be recognized on Monday afternoons, with individual sports (swimming & diving) announced on Tuesday afternoons. The winners of the latest Athlete of the Week awards are listed below, along with details on their outstanding performances. The MIAC Athlete of the Week archive has complete details on each week's selections and winners. MIAC Men's Swimming Athlete of the Week Declan Vahey Gustavus Adolphus College Fy. La Grange, Ill. / Lyons Township Declan Vahey collected four first-place finishes to help the Gusties claim victory at the Luther Invitational on 11/21-22. Vahey won the 100 back (50.94), 200 back (1:52.43), and 200 IM (1:55.55), in addition to swimming the lead leg of the team's victorious 400 medley relay squad (3:26.03). All four times rank first in the MIAC this season. Vahey also placed second in the 100 fly (52.12) and swam on the Gusties' 200 free relay (1:25.18), 400 free relay (3:08.47), and 800 free relay (7:07.12) teams. MIAC Women's Swimming Athlete of the Week Annika Beck Gustavus Adolphus College Fy. Stillwater, Minn. / Stillwater Annika Beck swam the fastest 500 and 1650 freestyle times in the MIAC this season to help the Gusties win the Luther Invitational on 11/21-22. Beck touched the wall in 5:12.53 to win the 500 free and finished the 1650 free in 17:58.12. She also placed second in the 400 IM with a time of 4:45.86 in finals. Her prelim time of 4:45.71 in the event is the second-fastest in the conference this fall. Beck added a fifth-place finish in the 200 fly (2:17.21) for another top-ten conference time and swam on four Gustavus relay squads, including the 800 freestyle relay team that recorded the MIAC's top time of the season at 7:56.13.
