Gusties win 2025 MIAC Women’s Tennis Playoff title

ST. PETER, Minn. – For the ninth time in program history and the first time since 2018, Gustavus will head to the NCAA Division III Women's Tennis Championships as Playoff champions of the Minnesota Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (MIAC). The Gusties claimed the MIAC title with a 4-3 victory over Carleton in St. Peter on Saturday.

Gustavus secured the doubles point with victories at the second and third spots. Molly Austin and Elena Davis recorded a 6-1 win at No. 2 doubles shortly before Ella De Young and Allison Szalay registered a 6-3 win at the No. 3 position. The action tightened up in singles play, where four of the six bouts went to three sets. Ryann Witter and Piper Brown carried the fifth and sixth spots for the Knights, while Amelia Asfaw gave Carleton another point after recovering from a 1-6 first set to win 1-6, 6-3, 6-2 at the top spot. Following Gustie wins at No. 3 by Molly Austin and No. 4 by Elena DavisKaya De Bruijn delivered the championship-clinching point with a 4-6, 6-3, 6-2 win at No. 2.

Following Saturday's match, Gustavus was presented with its MIAC Playoff championship plaque. The Gusties also received the Conference's automatic bid to the 2025 NCAA Division III Women's Tennis Tournament. Carleton will now wait to see if the Knights will earn an at-large bid to the Tournament, or if any individual participants will be selected.
