MIAC Athletes of the Week - January 20, 2026

BLOOMINGTON, Minn. -- The Minnesota Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (MIAC) announced its Athlete of the Week award winners for swimming & diving and indoor track & field on Tuesday. Student-athletes from Carleton, Saint John's, St. Olaf, and St. Scholastica claimed the Conference's weekly honors.

The MIAC Athlete of the Week awards are nominated by the Conference's sports information directors and selected by MIAC staff. Throughout the winter season, team sports (basketball and hockey) Athletes of the Week will be recognized on Monday afternoons, with individual sports (swimming & diving and indoor track & field) announced on Tuesday afternoons. The winners of the latest Athlete of the Week awards are listed below, along with details on their outstanding performances.

MIAC Men's Swimming Athlete of the Week
Brayden Slavik
Saint John's University

Green Isle, Minn. / Chaska

Brayden Slavik led the Johnnies with three individual wins in a dual meet with Gustavus on 1/17. Slavik won the 400-yard individual medley (4:14.02), 500-yard freestyle (4:51.03), and 1,000-yard freestyle (9:51.90). He holds the MIAC's top time in all three events this season.

MIAC Men's Diving Athlete of the Week
Hans Anderson
Carleton College

Watertown, Minn. / Watertown-Mayer

Hans Anderson swept both boards during Carleton's dual meet with Gustavus on 1/16. Anderson recorded a six-dive score of 260.00 to win the 1-meter dive competition by more than 100 points and totaled 294.55 points to take the 3-meter title by a margin of 131 points.


MIAC Women's Swimming Athlete of the Week
Julia Michalski
Carleton College

Julia Michalski won three individual events and swam on a victorious relay in the Knights' dual meet with Gustavus on 1/16. After helping Carleton to victory in the 200-yard medley relay with a time of 1:49.47, Michalski touched the wall first in the 50-yard freestyle (24.84), 100-yard freestyle (54.40), and 200-yard IM (2:16.00).

MIAC Women's Diving Athlete of the Week
Alayna McCormick
St. Olaf College

Alayna McCormick broke a 27-year-old program record with a score of 464.45 points off the 3-meter board in the Oles' 163-136 dual victory at Macalester on 1/17. McCormick won the 3-meter event by nearly 40 points and was victorious off the 1-meter board with a score of 437.35 and a near 30-point margin of victory, qualifying for NCAA Regionals in both events.


MIAC Men's Indoor Track Athlete of the Week
Noah Kubicek
The College of St. Scholastica

Noah Kubicek won the 600 meters with a time of 1:21.36 at the Twin Ports Open on 1/17. Kubicek's MIAC-leading time set new meet, facility, and program records. Kubicek also placed second in the 300 meters with a time of 35.46.

MIAC Men's Indoor Field Athlete of the Week
Joshua Monreal
The College of St. Scholastica

Proctor, Minn. / Proctor

Joshua Monreal won the weight throw and set a program record in the event at the Twin Ports Open on 1/17. Monreal's mark of 18.48 meters (60' 7.75") leads the MIAC and ranks sixth-best in NCAA Division III this season.


MIAC Women's Indoor Track Athlete of the Week
Izzi Jaeckle
St. Olaf College

Madison, Wis. / Edgewood

Izzi Jaeckle broke the program record in the 200-meter dash with a time of 26.07 at the Ole Opener on 1/17. Jaeckle also ran on St. Olaf's first-place 4x400-meter relay team that finished in 4:03.05. Her time in the 200 leads the MIAC and ranks 42nd in NCAA Division III this season, while the Oles' 4x4 relay time also tops the conference and ranks 19th in the nation.


MIAC Women's Indoor Field Athlete of the Week
Ashlyn Jore
St. Olaf College

Ashlyn Jore broke a four-decades-old school record in the long jump with a winning mark of 5.63 meters (18' 5.75") at the Ole Opener on 1/17. That mark is currently the best in the MIAC and ranks eighth in NCAA Division III. Jore was also one one-hundredth of a second off the program's 60-meter record with a first-place time of 8.04 in finals.
