Ten individuals to be inducted into St. Olaf Athletics Fall of Fame

NORTHFIELD, Minn. - The St. Olaf College Department of Athletics announced a group of 10 former student-athletes who will make up the St. Olaf Athletics Hall of Fame Class of 2026 on Wednesday.
 
The Class of 2026 includes Lindsay Boeser '08 (women's hockey), Erin Collins '99 (women's basketball/softball), Cory Dingels '02 (men's track and field/football), Molly Erickson '13 (women's golf), Jeff Flugum '02 (football/men's track and field), Bobby Fong '12 (men's basketball), Todd Mathison '09 (baseball), Danielle Niska '91 (women's tennis), Kristin (Quade) Cammarata '97 (women's swimming and diving), and Grant Wintheiser '15 (men's cross country/track and field). The class will be inducted on the evening of Friday, Oct. 2 as part of Homecoming and Family Weekend.
 
"As we celebrate each Athletics Hall of Fame class, we recognize those who have elevated our programs through exceptional performance, inspired teammates through their leadership, and strengthened the Ole community through their lifelong commitment to excellence," said St. Olaf Athletic Director Kelly Mahlum. "We are extremely excited to honor and celebrate the 10 individuals in this class of inductees."
 
The 10-member class will be the joint-largest group of inductees in the history of the St. Olaf Athletics Hall of Fame, which inducted its first class in 1971. There were also 10 inductees in the Class of 2000.

Lindsay Boeser '08 is one of the most decorated performers in the history of the St. Olaf women's hockey program. One of six student-athletes in program history to earn at least three All-Minnesota Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (MIAC) accolades, she was also named a CCM/American Hockey Coaches Association (AHCA) First Team West Region All-American in 2006-07.
 
Boeser is St. Olaf's all-time leader in career points (109) and assists (63), while ranking third in shorthanded goals (6), tied for fourth in goals (46), and tied for fifth in game-winning goals (7). She holds three of the program's top-five single-season point totals, including a record-tying 39-point season in 2006-07, and three of the top-five single-season assist totals, including a record-tying 25 in 2005-06. Boeser's play helped St. Olaf to the winningest three-year stretch in program history with 43 wins, including 15-win seasons in 2004-05 and 2006-07 that are the winningest seasons in program history.

Erin Collins '99 was a two-sport standout in basketball and softball for the Oles, earning All-MIAC in both sports during her time on the Hill. In basketball, she collected six total MIAC postseason accolades, including All-MIAC and MIAC All-Defensive Team honors in each of her last two seasons. Collins is St. Olaf's all-time leader in three-pointers made (192), assists (377), steals (253), and steals per game (2.6), while also ranking third in three-point field-goal percentage (.358) and assists per game (3.8).
 
In softball, Collins was a two-time Honorable Mention All-MIAC performer before landing All-MIAC and National Fastpitch Coaches Association (NFCA) Third Team All-Midwest Region honors as a senior. She remains the program's all-time leader in at-bats (518), runs scored (136), and stolen bases (55), while ranking third in games played (156) and fifth in hits (170). Her 42 runs scored in 1997 are tied for the single-season program record, while her 23 stolen bases in 1998 stood as a single-season record until this past spring.

Cory Dingels '02 is one of the St. Olaf men's track and field program's top jumpers and was a four-year starter at defensive back for the football team. Dingels was a three-time All-American in the long jump, with a pair of fourth-place finishes (2000 indoors and 2002 outdoors) and a national runner-up finish indoors in 2002. In addition to four national appearances in the long jump, he also qualified three times in the high jump, including two top-10 national performances.
 
Dingels won seven indoor and two outdoor MIAC individual titles – five in the long jump, three in the high jump, and one in the pentathlon – during his standout career. In 2001, he was honored with the MIAC Indoor Performance of the Meet after winning the high jump and long jump titles. He remains St. Olaf's record holder in the indoor long jump (7.25m) and was the record holder in the outdoor long jump (7.32m) from 2002-26. Dingels also ranks on St. Olaf's all-time top-10 lists in the pentathlon (2nd), indoor high jump (t-3rd), indoor triple jump (8th), and outdoor high jump (9th), in addition to being part of two indoor top-10 relays.

Molly Erickson '13 is the most-decorated student-athlete in the history of St. Olaf women's golf after earning a pair of All-America accolades. She was named a Women's Golf Coaches Association (WGCA) Second Team All-American as a senior and a WGCA Honorable Mention All-American as a junior.
 
Erickson made two appearances in the NCAA Division III Women's Golf Championship, finishing as the national runner-up as a junior and tying for 22nd the following season. The 2012-13 MIAC individual champion, she was twice named the MIAC Player of the Year (2011-12, 2012-13) and is one of four Oles to earn three All-MIAC accolades in their careers, doing so with three top-seven finishes at the conference meet. Erickson, who holds two of the three lowest single-season scoring averages in recorded program history, helped lead St. Olaf to MIAC team titles in 2011-12 and 2012-13, as well as a pair of top-15 team finishes nationally.

Jeff Flugum '02 was a standout offensive lineman for the St. Olaf football team and was a thrower on the track and field team for two years before injuries curtailed his throwing career. He was a USAFootball.com Honorable Mention All-American in 2000 and a two-time Football Gazette All-West Region Second Team (2000, 2001) performer.
 
Flugum started every game of his career for St. Olaf and earned All-MIAC accolades in all four of his seasons. After back-to-back second-team accolades in his first two seasons, he was a First Team All-MIAC selection in both 2000 and 2001. Flugum was also a two-time team captain, the team's Offensive MVP (1999), and the team's Most Valuable Freshman (1998), while also being named a 2000 Lutheran Brotherhood Honorable Mention All-American. In track and field, he finished as high as fifth in the conference in the shot put indoors in 1999.

Bobby Fong '12 was a four-year standout for St. Olaf's men's basketball team and one of the top scorers in program history. Fong landed postseason conference accolades in all four of his seasons, including back-to-back All-MIAC honors in his final two seasons after a pair of honorable-mention awards to start his career.
 
A 2011-12 D3hoops.com Third Team All-West Region selection, Fong ranks fifth in program history in scoring with 1,323 points, while also ranking eighth in field goals made (478) and games started (91). He started 91 of the 93 games he played in while wearing a St. Olaf uniform and averaged at least 12.0 points per game in all four of his seasons, as the Oles won a combined 33 games and appeared in the MIAC Playoffs in each of his last two seasons.

Todd Mathison '09 put together one of the best careers of any St. Olaf pitcher and also played as an infielder during his decorated four-year career. A 2006 American Baseball Coaches Association (ABCA)/Rawlings Third Team All-American, he was also a rare four-time ABCA All-Midwest Region selection, including being a first-team honoree in 2006 and 2009.
 
Mathison is one of four Oles to earn All-MIAC accolades in all four of their seasons and was voted the MIAC Player of the Year in 2008. His six shutouts and 27 wins are both program records, with the 27 wins are tied for third in MIAC history. He also ranks in the program's top 10 in opponent batting average (2nd), innings pitched (4th), fewest walks per nine innings (4th), appearances (4th), starts (35), ERA (5th), saves (5th), assists (7th), complete games (7th), and strikeouts (t-8th). Mathison's teams went a combined 122-46 (.726), appeared in three NCAA Regionals, won two MIAC Playoff titles (2006, 2009), and won the 2007 MIAC regular-season title.

Danielle Niska '91 is one of the most accomplished singles and doubles players in St. Olaf women's tennis history. Over the course of her career, Niska qualified for the NCAA Division III Women's Tennis Championship three times in singles and once in doubles, in addition to team appearances in her final two seasons.
 
Niska played No. 1 doubles in all four of her seasons and, after starting her rookie season at No. 2 singles, moved up to No. 1 singles later in the season and stayed there for the remainder of her career. A four-year all-conference honoree, she finished all four seasons of her career in the Intercollegiate Tennis Association (ITA) national singles rankings, including a career-best No. 13 ranking as a senior, and was nationally ranked in doubles in 1988-89 (No. 27) and 1990-91 (No. 12) with two different partners. Niska's teams finished in the ITA's national team rankings three times, peaking at No. 6 to conclude the 1989-90 campaign.

Kristin (Quade) Cammarata '97 won multiple MIAC individual titles in all four of her seasons during a dominant era for women's swimming and diving in the conference, while also racking up a total of 17 All-America accolades. Nationally, Quade earned four individual All-America or Honorable Mention All-America accolades, highlighted by an eighth-place finish in the 100-yard freestyle in 1995.
 
Quade also swam on 13 All-America or Honorable Mention All-America relays, including the third-place 800-yard freestyle relay as a senior and a pair of seventh-place relays in that event the prior two seasons. She helped the Oles to three top-20 national finishes during her career, led by 13th-place performances in 1995 and 1997. On the conference level, Quade won nine of the 12 individual freestyle sprint events during her career and was third in the other three. She also swam on 13 MIAC championship relays and was on two more runner-up relays, as St. Olaf won MIAC titles in each of her seasons as part of a run of 11 team championships in a row.

Grant Wintheiser '15 earned seven All-America accolades, as well as one individual national title and one team title, during his decorated career for the St. Olaf men's cross country and track and field programs. After being the top finisher on St. Olaf's 2013 NCAA Division III title-winning team, Wintheiser won the individual cross country national title the following year while being named the U.S. Track & Field and Cross Country Coaches Association (USTFCCCA) National Athlete of the Year and USTFCCCA Scholar-Athlete of the Year.
 
In cross country, Wintheiser finished in the top three nationally in each of his final three seasons, placing third in both 2012 and 2013 prior to the 2014 national title. He also was a four-time USTFCCCA All-Region performer, including winning regional titles in 2012 and 2014, while also being a three-time MIAC individual champion (2012-14) and three-time MIAC Athlete of the Year (2012-14). He helped the Oles to conference and regional titles in 2012, 2013, and 2014, as well as four top-25 national finishes, highlighted by the 2013 team title and a 2014 runner-up showing.
 
On the track, Wintheiser was a two-time All-American and six-time MIAC champion over the course of his career. Indoors, he was the national runner-up in the 3,000-meter run in both 2014 and 2015 and won the event at the conference meet three times (2013-15), in addition to a MIAC title in the one-mile run in 2014. Outdoors, he was a two-time All-American in the 1,500-meter run, taking fourth in 2014 and eighth in 2015, and won individual MIAC 5,000-meter run titles in 2013 and 2014.
