BLOOMINGTON, Minn. -- The Minnesota Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (MIAC) announced its Athlete of the Week award winners for indoor track & field on Tuesday. Student-athletes from Bethel, Hamline, and Macalester claimed the Conference's weekly honors.
The MIAC Athlete of the Week awards are nominated by the Conference's sports information directors and selected by MIAC staff. Throughout the spring season, team sports (baseball, softball, and tennis) Athletes of the Week will be recognized on Monday afternoons, with individual sports (indoor track & field and golf) announced on Tuesday afternoons. The winners of the latest Athlete of the Week awards are listed below, along with details on their outstanding performances.

MIAC Men's Indoor Track Athlete of the Week

John Ihrke won the 800 meters with a program-record time of 1:52.48 at the University of Minnesota's Snowshoe Open on 2/24. Ihrke's converted time of 1:50.90 currently ranks sixth in NCAA Division III this season.

Austin Schloeder cleared 4.71 meters (15' 5.5") to win the pole vault competition at the Tostrud Classic on 2/20. Schloeder's mark is tied for 37th in NCAA Division III this season.
MIAC Women's Indoor Track Athlete of the Week

Shalom Sulungaine was the first D-III runner to cross the finish line in the 400 meters at the University of Minnesota's Snowshoe Open on 2/20. Sulungaine finished in a season-best time of 56.68, good for the ninth-fastest 400 time in NCAA Division III this season.
