MIAC Athletes of the Week - February 17, 2026

BLOOMINGTON, Minn. -- The Minnesota Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (MIAC) announced its Athlete of the Week award winners for indoor track & field on Tuesday. Student-athletes from Concordia, Hamline, Macalester, and Saint Benedict claimed the Conference's weekly honors.

The MIAC Athlete of the Week awards are nominated by the Conference's sports information directors and selected by MIAC staff. Throughout the winter season, team sports (basketball, hockey, and tennis) Athletes of the Week will be recognized on Monday afternoons, with individual sports (swimming & diving and indoor track & field) announced on Tuesday afternoons. The winners of the latest Athlete of the Week awards are listed below, along with details on their outstanding performances.

MIAC Men's Indoor Track Athlete of the Week
John Ihrke
Macalester College

John Ihrke won the 1000 meters at the Meet of Hearts with a time of 2:27.43, setting a new program record in the event. His converted time of 2:25.43 ranks No. 3 in NCAA Division III this season.

MIAC Men's Indoor Field Athlete of the Week
Isaiah Watson
Hamline University

Isaiah Watson won the triple jump at the Meet of Hearts on 2/14 with a leap of 14.49 meters (47' 6.5"). That distance ranks second in program history and 23rd in NCAA Division III this season. Watson also placed fourth in the long jump over the weekend, covering a distance of 6.35 meters (20' 10").


MIAC Women's Indoor Track Athlete of the Week
Kyla Nygaard
Concordia College

Maple Grove, Minn. / Maple Grove

Kyla Nygaard ran the fastest 800-meter time in the MIAC this season at the SDSU Indoor Classic on 2/13. Nygaard crossed the finish line in 2:12.99 while competing against runners from NCAA Division I and Division II programs. Her time ranks No. 17 in NCAA Division III this season.


MIAC Women's Indoor Field Athlete of the Week
Sabriya Farquharson
College of Saint Benedict

Nassau, Bahamas / St. Augustine's

Sabriya Farquharson won a pair of events to help the Bennies secure the team title at the CSB/SJU Valentine's Day Open on 2/14. Farquharson placed first in the triple jump with a season-best mark of 11.30 meters (37' 1"), as well as the long jump with a distance of 5.48 meters (17' 11.75"). Farquharson's triple jump distance ranks 29th in NCAA Division III this season, while her long jump is No. 50 on the national performance list.
