MIAC Athletes of the Week - March 31, 2026

BLOOMINGTON, Minn. -- The Minnesota Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (MIAC) announced its Athlete of the Week award winners for outdoor track & field on Tuesday. Student-athletes from Bethel, Macalester, and St. Scholastica claimed the Conference's weekly honors.
 
The MIAC Athlete of the Week awards are nominated by the Conference's sports information directors and selected by MIAC staff. Throughout the spring season, team sports (baseball, softball, and tennis) Athletes of the Week will be recognized on Monday afternoons, with individual sports (outdoor track & field and golf) announced on Tuesday afternoons. The winners of the latest Athlete of the Week awards are listed below, along with details on their outstanding performances.

MIAC Men's Outdoor Track Athlete of the Week
Grant Nelson
Bethel University

Minneapolis, Minn. / Providence Academy

Grant Nelson ran the fastest times in NCAA Division III this season in both the 200- and 400-meter dash events at the Redlands Invitational on 3/20. Nelson crossed the finish line in 20.91 to win the 200 and clocked in at 46.80 in the 400.

Trent Beseth

Trent Beseth recorded a pair of national top-ten finishes at the CSB/SJU Optimistic Meet on 3/28 and the Hamline Invitational on 3/30. Beseth's discus throw of 49.97m (153' 11") on 3/28 ranks sixth in NCAA Division III this season, while his hammer throw of 54.77m (179' 8") on 3/30 is ninth in D-III.


MIAC Women's Outdoor Track Athlete of the Week
Ariella Rogahn-Press
Macalester College

Ariella Rogahn-Press ran the fastest 400-meter dash time in NCAA Division III this season at the Hamline Invitational on 3/30 with a time of 53.98. Rogahn-Press also won the 200 meters in 24.74, good for the tenth-fastest time in D-III this spring. She also anchored the Scots' 4x100-meter relay squad that crossed the finish line in 49.23. That time ranks 42nd in the nation.

Ellie Hernes

Ellie Hernes won both the triple jump and long jump events at the Redlands Invitational on 3/20. Hernes' triple jump distance of 11.55m (37' 10.75") ranks sixth in NCAA Division III this season, while her long jump distance of 5.63m (18' 5.75") is eighth in D-III.
