Carleton’s Schwab wins national title as MIAC winter season comes to a close

BLOOMINGTON, Minn. – Carleton sophomore diver Nina Schwab was crowned the national champion in the women's 1-meter diving event at the 2026 NCAA Division III Swimming & Diving Championships, highlighting the final weekend of winter NCAA Championship competition for MIAC student-athletes.

SWIMMING & DIVING
Three swimmers and three divers from the MIAC competed at the 2026 NCAA Division III Swimming & Diving Championships on March 18-21 at the IU Natatorium in Indianapolis, Indiana.
 
Carleton sophomore Nina Schwab won the national championship in the women's 1-meter diving and was the national runner-up off the 3-meter board, earning All-America honors in both events. Saint Benedict junior Haley Zelen also became a national runner-up and All-American, touching the wall second in the women's 100 fly with a MIAC record time of 53.88. Macalester first-year Ainsley Kashatus picked up an honorable mention All-America distinction in the women's 3-meter diving with a 13th-place finish.
 
Saint John's senior Brayden Slavik finished third in the men's 1,650 freestyle to earn All-America honors. His time of 15:26.52 represents a new MIAC record.
 
Schwab's individual national title is the 265th in MIAC history, the 11th for the Carleton swimming & diving program, and the first by a Knight since 2005. Schwab also became the first Carleton diver in history to win a national championship.

WOMEN'S HOCKEY
Hamline (21-6-1) came up short in a 1-0 loss to Norwich (26-2-0) in the NCAA Women's Hockey Quarterfinals on Saturday afternoon. The Pipers surrendered the game's only goal one minute into regulation. Hamline outshot Norwich by a 32-23 margin in the game.
 
The MIAC sent three women's hockey teams to the national tournament this year, the most in conference history.
