Indoor Track & Field 3/5/2026 2:00:00 PM MIAC announces 2025-26 Indoor Track & Field awards BLOOMINGTON, Minn. -- The Minnesota Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (MIAC) announced its 2025-26 award recipients for indoor track & field on Thursday. The top three finishers in each individual event and the top three teams in each relay at the 2026 MIAC Indoor Track & Field Championships received All-MIAC honors. Finishers 4-6 in each event received honorable mention. MIAC track & field coaches also voted on individual award recipients for Men's and Women's Track, Field, Rookie, and Coach of the Year honors. Bethel senior Grant Nelson and Concordia senior Cooper Folkestad were named the Men's Indoor Track & Field Athletes of the Year, respectively. Macalester sophomore Ariella Rogahn-Press was voted the Women's Indoor Track Athlete of the Year, while Bethel senior Ellie Hernes was selected as the Women's Indoor Field Athlete of the Year. Bethel first-year Logan Swanson received the most votes for the Men's Rookie of the Year, with Concordia first-year Lauren Pearson collecting the Women's Rookie of the Year award. Bethel head coach Andrew Rock was recognized as the Men's Indoor Track & Field Coach of the Year, and Concordia head coach Marv Roeske received the Women's Indoor Track & Field Coach of the Year award. Nelson (Minneapolis, Minn. / Providence Academy) was voted Men's Indoor Track Athlete of the Year for the second consecutive season. Nelson was the top finisher and set facility records in all four of his events at the 2026 MIAC Indoor Track & Field Championships. In addition to winning the men's 200 meters in 21.91 and men's 400 meters in 48.75, Nelson also helped the Royals to relay victories in the 4x200 meters (1:28.36) and a championship record in the 4x400 meters (3:18.48). Nelson is the first individual to repeat as MIAC Indoor Track Athlete of the Year since Carleton's Lucas Mueller in 2018-19. Folkestad (Wadena, Minn. / Wadena-Deer Creek) was selected Men's Indoor Field Athlete of the Year. The Concordia senior set facility and championship records in the men's shot put with a winning distance of 18.54 meters (60' 10"). Folkestad is the second Cobber in the last three seasons to be named MIAC Field Athlete of the Year for men's indoor track & field, joining 2024 recipient Wade Rhonemus. Rogahn-Press (Albuquerque, N.M. / Bosque School) was voted Women's Indoor Track Athlete of the Year after collecting a trio of All-Conference honors at the 2026 MIAC Championships. Rogahn-Press set new championship and facility records in the women's 400 meters with a winning time of 55.79. The Macalester sophomore also placed second in the 200 meters (25.44) and third in the 55 meters (7.32), in addition to helping the Scots to a fourth-place finish in the 4x400-meter relay (4:01.82). Rogahn-Press is the first Macalester runner to be voted the MIAC Women's Indoor Track Athlete of the Year since Phoebe Aguiar in 2019. Hernes (Fairmont, Minn.) was named Women's Indoor Field Athlete of the Year after earning All-MIAC accolades in the triple jump, long jump, and pentathlon. Hernes won the MIAC title in the women's triple jump with a leap of 11.45 meters (37' 6.75"), was the conference runner-up in the long jump (5.46m, 17' 11"), and placed third in the pentathlon (3,226 points). She is the third straight Royal to be named MIAC Field Athlete of the Year for women's indoor track & field. Swanson (St. Paul, Minn. / Concordia Academy) was selected as the Men's Rookie of the Year after finishing as the conference runner-up in the men's 55-meter hurdles. Swanson clocked in at 7.69. He is the third Royal in the last four seasons to receive Men's Rookie of the Year honors in men's track & field. Pearson (Cameron, Wis. / Cameron) was voted the Women's Rookie of the Year. The Concordia first-year set a facility record in the women's pentathlon with 3,472 points and won a second MIAC title in the high jump with a clearance of 1.60 meters (5' 3"). Pearson is the first Cobber to be named MIAC Rookie of the Year in women's indoor track & field since the award was established in 2023. Rock (14th season) was honored with MIAC Men's Indoor Track & Field Coach of the Year honors after leading the Royals to their fourth consecutive conference title in the sport. Bethel racked up five individual MIAC titles and a pair of relay wins at the 2026 MIAC Indoor Championships. This is Rock's fifth MIAC Coach of the Year award in men's indoor track & field (2017, 2023, 2024, 2025, 2026). Roeske (30th season) was honored with MIAC Women's Indoor Track & Field Coach of the Year honors after guiding the Cobbers to the program's first indoor title since 1999. Concordia collected three individual event titles and scored points in 19 of 20 events to end their 27-year championship drought. This is Roeske's seventh MIAC Coach of the Year award, and his first specific to indoor track & field.
