MIAC Athletes of the Week - April 27, 2026

BLOOMINGTON, Minn. -- The Minnesota Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (MIAC) announced its Athlete of the Week award winners for baseball, softball, and tennis on Monday. Student-athletes from Bethel, Saint Benedict, Saint John's, and St. Olaf claimed the Conference's weekly honors.
 
The MIAC Athlete of the Week awards are nominated by the Conference's sports information directors and selected by MIAC staff. Throughout the spring season, team sports (baseball, softball, and tennis) Athletes of the Week will be recognized on Monday afternoons, with individual sports (outdoor track & field and golf) announced on Tuesday afternoons. The winners of the latest Athlete of the Week awards are listed below, along with details on their outstanding performances.

MIAC Baseball Player of the Week

Chris Lavin finished the week .667 (10-for-15) with nine RBI and three runs scored in four games for the Royals. Lavin went 3-for-3 with a grand slam in a 14-3 game-one victory over St. Scholastica on 4/21. He drove home two more runs while going 3-for-5 at the plate in an 18-14 game-two loss to the Saints. He finished the week with four hits in seven at-bats of a doubleheader sweep of St. Olaf on 4/25.

MIAC Baseball Pitcher of the Week

Dylan Bloom surrendered three singles, three walks, and struck out three over six scoreless innings of the Johnnies' 14-0, seven-inning win at Augsburg on 4/25. Bloom faced 22 batters and held the Auggies to an average of .158 at the plate in the second game of a series sweep.

Lily Treml hit .480 (12-for-25) with 14 RBI, five walks, a pair of extra-base hits, and seven runs scored to help the Bennies win eight games last week and move into first place in the conference standings. Treml got on base in all eight contests and tallied at least one hit in each of the last seven games. She also logged multiple RBI in four games, including a career-best six RBI in a 4-for-5 performance in a sweep-securing victory over St. Catherine on 4/26. That performance came one day after Treml went 2-for-4 with three RBI in a 10-2 game-two win over nationally-ranked Saint Mary's.

MIAC Softball Pitcher of the Week

Roxanne Ring picked up the win in all four of her circle appearances as the Oles went 6-0 in MIAC play last week. Ring worked 22.2 innings and threw three complete games - including two shutouts - while holding opponents to a .177 batting average with 22 strikeouts and three walks. After holding Hamline to two hits and no runs with five Ks over 5.1 innings on 4/25, Ring closed out the week with a one-hit shutout with no walks and eight strikeouts against St. Scholastica on 4/26.

MIAC Men's Tennis Player of the Week

Lou Smith was 2-0 at No. 2 singles and 2-0 at No. 1 doubles to help the Oles secure a spot in the MIAC Men's Tennis Playoffs last week with a pair of 4-3 conference wins. Smith did not lose a set in either of his singles matches, including a 6-2, 7-6 (7-2) win against Bethel on 4/22 that evened the match at 3-3. Smith was also part of 7-6 (7-4) and 7-5 victories in the wins over Bethel (4/2) and Hamline (4/25).


MIAC Women's Tennis Player of the Week

Lauryn Douglas went 3-0 atop both the singles and doubles lineups in a trio of conference matches to close out the regular season last week. In addition to 6-1, 6-0 and 6-0, 6-0 wins against St. Olaf (4/20) and Saint Benedict (4/25), Douglas also collected the Royals' lone point at nationally-ranked Gustavus with a 6-3, 6-2 win at No. 1 singles on 4/24. Douglas was also part of No. 1 doubles wins in all three matches, including a 7-6 (7-5) triumph against Gustavus.
