National Notables

• Four MIAC student-athletes were among the 206 college football players nationwide to be named semifinalists for the William V. Campbell Trophy®, college football's premier scholar-athlete award: Bethel senior wide receiver Albert Rundell (Watertown, Minn. / Watertown-Mayer), Gustavus senior defensive lineman Max Olson (Trimont, Minn. / Martin County West), Saint John's senior quarterback Trey Feeney (Moorhead, Minn. / Moorhead), and St. Olaf senior running back Bryon Sauvy (St. Michael, Minn. / STMA).
• Former Carleton quarterback and 2025 MIAC Offensive Player of the Year Jack Curtis (Charlotte, N.C. / Ardrey Kell) signed a professional contract with the Indoor Football League's Jacksonville Sharks on 9/24.
• Augsburg senior linebacker RJ Chakolis (Brooklyn Park, Minn. / Hopkins) is averaging 12.5 tackles per game this season, the sixth-highest average in NCAA Division III.
• Bethel sophomore wide receiver Aiden Eckert (New Richmond, Wis. / New Richmond) is averaging 209.0 all-purpose yards per game, the sixth-highest clip in NCAA Division III this season. He ranks fifth in D-III with an average of 159.5 receiving yards per game this fall, and is tied for seventh in Division III with an average of 9.0 receptions per game.
• Carleton sophomore running back Evan Olds (Littleton, Colo. / Thunder Ridge) is tied for seventh in NCAA Division III with an average of 9.0 receptions per game this season.
• Carleton senior wide receiver Jaxon Watson (Salem, Ore. / South Salem) is averaging 25.3 yards per punt return (3-76) this season, good for the second-best mark in NCAA Division III.
• Concordia junior quarterback Nick Walter (Annandale, Minn. / Annandale) completed 83.3 percent (15-of-18) of his throws against St. Olaf on 9/12, tied for the eighth-highest single-game average in D-III this fall.
• Macalester senior linebacker Jason Weaver (Roselle Park, N.J. / Pingry) leads NCAA Division III and ranks second across all divisions of NCAA Football with an average of 9.0 solo tackles per game this season. Weaver collected 13.0 solo tackles against Martin Luther on 9/5, tied for the second-most in any NCAA Division III game this season.
• Saint John's senior quarterback Trey Feeney (Moorhead, Minn. / Moorhead) leads all NCAA divisions with an average of 32.5 completions per game this season. His completion percentage of 76.5 (65-for-85) is good for the fifth-best mark in NCAA Division III this fall. His nine passing touchdowns on the year are tied for the eighth-most in D-III, while his average of 344.0 passing yards per game ranks seventh in the country. Feeney had 36 completions against UW-La Crosse on 9/5, tied for the third-most in any D-III game this season. His six passing touchdowns against Hamline on 9/19 are tied for the second-most in any NCAA game this year, and his completion percentage of 85.3 (29-of-34) in the game is the fourth-best single-game mark in D-III this fall.
• Saint John's senior kicker Matt Hansen (Longmont, Colo. / Niwot) averaged 52.7 yards per punt (3-158) in the Johnnies' victory over UW-La Crosse on 9/5, good for the eighth-best single-game average in D-III this season.
• St. Scholastica sophomore linebacker Isaac Johnson (St. Paul, Minn. / Highland Park) is tied for eighth in NCAA Division III with an average of 12.0 tackles per game this fall.
• St. Scholastica sophomore punter Griffin Webb (Fort Frances, Ontario, Canada / Fort Frances) averaged 60.5 yards per punt (2-121) in the Saints' loss to Wisconsin Lutheran on 9/5, good for the highest single-game average in NCAA Division III this season.

Record Watch

Bethel senior quarterback Cooper Drews (Princeton, Minn. / Princeton) ranks fifth on the MIAC's leaderboard for career passing touchdowns in overall games with 90 — seven scoring strikes behind former Augsburg signal-caller, Ayrton Scott. His 696 career completions put him one shy of former Gustavus quarterback Jordan Stolp for tenth-place all-time in MIAC history. He is also 98 passing attempts and 745 passing yards short of a top-10 spot in those categories as well.

Around the MIAC

• Augsburg senior linebacker RJ Chakolis (Brooklyn Park, Minn. / Hopkins) had nine tackles (eight solo), including a tackle-for-loss for a safety, in the Auggies' 30-0 win over St. Scholastica on Saturday. It was Augsburg's first shutout victory since 2003.
• Bethel sophomore wide receiver Aiden Eckert (New Richmond, Wis. / New Richmond) caught 11 passes for 194 yards and two touchdowns in the Royals' 49-7 win over Gustavus on 9/19. Eckert has eclipsed the century mark in each of his last two games.
• Carleton senior wide receiver Tyler Dimond (Grafton, Mass. / Grafton) racked up 186 all-purpose yards and accounted for four touchdowns — including the dramatic game-winning score — in the Knights' 48-45 Book of Knowledge win over Macalester on 9/19. Dimond got Carleton on the board first by tossing a 40-yard touchdown pass off a handoff just two plays into the game. After Macalester answered back, Dimond returned the ensuing kickoff 83 yards for a touchdown. The senior wideout showed off his arm talent again in the third quarter with a second trick-play touchdown pass to give the Knights a two-score advantage in the second half, before hauling in the game-winning score with 20 seconds to play on a four-yard catch in the corner of the end zone. The touchdown reception was the 28th of Dimond's career, moving him into a tie for second in Carleton history.
• Concordia junior linebacker Kyle Mages (Osakis, Minn. / Osakis) collected five tackles (four solo), one sack, and intercepted a pair of passes in the Cobbers' shutout victory over St. Olaf on 9/12. Mages helped Concordia hold the Oles to 84 total yards in the rivalry game to win the Lefse Bowl and reclaim the Troll Trophy.
• Gustavus senior cornerback Chance Swansson (Inver Grove Heights, Minn. / Rosemount) collected an interception and two pass breakups in the Gusties' loss to Bethel on 9/19. Swansson has broken up at least two passes in three consecutive games dating back to last season.
• Hamline senior linebacker Elijah Gingras (Hudson, Wis. / Somerset) collected seven tackles — five solo — in the Pipers' loss to Saint John's on 9/19. He is averaging a team-high 7.5 tackles per game this season.
• Macalester junior Jack Scully (Menlo Park, Calif. / Sacred Heart Prep) completed 22-of-34 passes for 267 yards and four touchdowns in the Scots' 48-45 loss to Carleton on 9/19. Scully also rushed for a career-high 87 yards.
• Saint John's senior quarterback Trey Feeney (Moorhead, Minn. / Moorhead) completed 29 of 34 passes for 302 yards and six touchdowns in the Johnnies' victory over Hamline on 9/19. The six-touchdown performance was the third of his SJU career and moved him into eighth on the program's all-time list with 49 career passing touchdowns. It was also Feeney's sixth 300-yard passing game, breaking a tie for sole possession of fifth-most in program history.
• St. Olaf senior running back Bryon Sauvy (St. Michael, Minn. / STMA) carried the ball 17 times for 78 yards in the Oles' loss to Concordia on 9/12. Sauvy has rushed at least 17 times in each of his last five games.
• St. Scholastica senior defensive tackle John Lassila (Elk River, Minn. / Elk River) was credited with a tackle for loss, forced fumble, and fumble recovery late in the fourth quarter of the Saints' loss to Augsburg on 9/19. Lassila had a career-high eight tackles in the game.
